Driving with Ipod

I have a question for those who drive down from the NYC area. If you use an Ipod in your car, do you use a FM transmitter or a cassett adaptor? If you use the transmittor how is the reception on the way down? If you use a cassett adaptor how is the sound quality? TIA

If using a FM transmitter is really doesn't matter the what the Outside surroundings are as it's just transmitting from your antenna in the car from the devise . So you should have no problem.

The cassette adapters have good Quality depending on your deck .

the best is a hard wired that plugs into your antenna jack then your antenna plugs into that.

we have XM and use the Transmiters in Rentals as it's hardwired into our Jeeps.

I don't have a cassette player. I have used two different FM transmittor things. One is a very small one that has a selection of about five stations. It really didn't work for me. There is not a good place to put the IPOD in my car and I think the transmitter was too far from the radio. Plus in a big city like Atlanta I could not get a clear signal. The one I use now plugs into the cigarette lighter and holds the IPDD. I think I paid about 90 dollars for it and it works great. You have the entire FM band to pick from so it's easy to find a "location" without interference.

What brand of FM transmitter do you have now? I got one of those cheapo ones with only 4 signal choices and it SUCKS! I am leary to actually pay for one if that is the norm for fm transmitters.... TIA!

If you have a cassette player in your car, go with the cassette adapter. The sound quality is better than with an FM transmitter.

I went and checked. Mine is the JLO Transpod. It is much better then the little 4 choice one. (I agree it sucked!) I can't compare it to the cassette type, but I think that the other "quality" issue is your car sound system. I move mine between rental cars a lot and some have much nicer sound systems then others. LOL!
