Driving up from San Diego - Weekday AM. . .

Okay,

I'm going to be driving up to Anaheim from San Diego on a Thursday morning in August. If I get on the road about 7:30 AM, am I looking at an hour and a half, 2 hours, or am I crazy for planning the drive during rush hour?

Use to live in SD and it is hard to say. And SD is a large city so it depends a bit on where you are. To get to Anaheim you will travel on Interstate 5, and most of the traffic in the AM is coming south. So you should not have too much trouble in SD County. Once you get above Camp Pendleton you will be into Orange County, but it will be 8:30-9AM by then and traffic should be dying down. I suspect you will hit some traffic in OC and it will take you roughly 2 hours depending on where you start in SD.

YES!! You're crazy! You'll hit "The Orange Crush" and believe me, you'll be miserable! We live in SD and go to DL all the time. We usually leave really early (like 6), then eat b-fast outside the park once we get up here. Then we'll get inside DL before rope drop (if it's at 8). Don't leave at 7:30...you'll be very sorry.

I don't live there, and have only been on that drive twice, but I say to leave MUCH earlier. My brother lives in Chula Vista (being specific about where we were coming from), and I think the first year we left around 7:30, then last year my SIL was very sleepy and we left later...both trips took a long, long time IMO. And that was in Sept and Oct, when the park opens later, but we were still rather late (especially last year, ugh).

Okay, leaving early it is! The teenaged bear can sleep in the car. . . Can't complain too much when I wake her up at Disneyland!
