How difficult is it to navigate getting from Sheraton Safari to the parks and back. We will be staying here during our trip but are wary of their transportation quality. We are also planning on having most meals outside of the parks at restaurants near the hotel to save $$- anyone done this? We are completely new to the whole off-property thing. Thanks

While we haven't stayed at the SS, we spent our trip last Feb about a quarter of a mile down the road from there. It couldn't have been much more convenient to get to the parks. You are basically within sight of the entrance to DTD. All of the parks were just minutes away. At the end of the day it never took us longer than 15 minutes from theme park parking lot to hotel parking lot. The location is great for those staying off-site.

It is an extremely easy ride to any of the Disney properties from the Sheraton Safari. You are literally about 2 blocks from the entrance to downtown Disney and the Crossroads.

There are several restaurants close by. I know there is a Dunkin Donuts right across the street, a Pizza Hut in the Parking lot, a IHOP about a block away and a lot of different restaurants in the Crossroads.

If not staying on-site, this is definately one of my favorite areas to stay.

It's a stright shot to DD from the Sheraton Safari. But one word of warning: be SURE to pay close attention as you cross the intersection at Apopka-Vineland and the 535 (the corner the Sheraton Safari is on). It's as if people go clinically insane when they reach that intersection and lose all ability to drive within the law. I cannot tell you how many times we have seen VERY near-misses (we live just up the 535 and travel that intersection daily). It would be unusual in the extreme NOT to see something that makes our hair stand on end.

Just a friendly heads-up. Keep your wits about you and assume someone will do something stupid.

You are right by I-4 where you will see signs for the disney parks. very easy. also as another poster stated, right across from the mcdonald's you will see a sign that says walt disney world (or something like that). You go down this road and it will get you to downtown disney.

DH and I stayed here for a few days at the end of our trip last year and found the location to be very convenient.
