Hi there... first post; fingers crossed I'm doing it correctly!! Staying at AKV from March 17-20 and will have a rental car. Thinking about driving to parks rather than taking shuttle busses to save some time. Is there any benefit to driving to a Monorail hotel (Grand Floridian for example) and taking train to park? Or is it simply easier/faster to park car at the theme park.

Any advice will be greatly appreciated!! Thanks!

you are not permitted to use monorail resort (or any resort parking) as theme park parking. The lots are small and intended only for those who have business there (dining, shopping at the resort etc) or staying there.

Parking at a resort hotel is a big NO NO!
Parking your car at the park is the best option and faster than taking the bus.

As someone has already mentioned, driving to one of the monorail hotels and then taking the monorail to Magic Kingdom or Epcot is a big "no no." However, driving to the parks is always easiest especially if you plan on staying until park closing. The bus situation gets pretty ugly at park closing.

If you are a AAA member, and especially if you are getting your park passes through AAA, you can stop by your local AAA office before you leave for Disney World and get a Diamond Parking Pass which will give you closer parking privileges at the Walt Disney parks. It's a great perk especially at park closing.

Have a great trip!:yay:

It's virtually always faster to use direct WDW transportation to get to and from the Magic Kingdom.
When you drive (mode 1),
you then need to walk* (mode 2A) or
take a tram (mode 2B) to the TTC,
where you transfer to the monorail (mode 3A) or
the ferry (mode 3B) to the Magic Kingdom gates.

Or you can board the bus, make one stop at Jambo, and ride to within a hundred yards (or less) of the MK gates.

*it's not a short walk, even from the handicap or AAA diamond or closest general spots, since Guests need to go under the road that runs past the Poly -while avoiding the teams getting people to the TTC faster ;)

Well, that clears up my question perfectly!! Thanks everyone for the information!
