MY DH and I are going with our DS (2 years old) to WDW in Feb. and would like to get your opinion on whether we should drive or take the AKL bus to the parks.

I heard that it's more convenient to take the bus to MK because the parking lot is far from the main entrance. In this case, it's more convenient to take the bus since it drops you off right at the main entrance. Am I correct in my info?

In any case, can you please let me know which parks we should drive to and which ones we should take the bus?

What I am trying to avoid is a long wait or a long hike between the bus stop and the park entrance.

Any other transporation tips you could share would be very much welcomed and appreciated.

Thank you.

I would drive to Downtown Disney, but that would be it! The rest we prefer to do on the bus, sinc ethe time it takes to park, then get to the park entrance usually outweighs the wait for the bus. Well, maybe driving to MGM would be worth it, but we like to do an MGM - Boardwalk - Epcot loop via the boat and the international gateway, and if you're parked at MGM, you kinda have to go back there.
:boat: Speaking of loops, that last time we stayed at AKL (10/03, wow isn't AKL just the greatest hotel ever?!) on one of the days we took a bus to MGM, toured there in the morning, took the boat to Epcot for late lunch at a good restaurant (as opposed to what is generally available at MGM and MK), then a nice leisurely Monorail ride to MK and bused it back to AKL that nite. The great thing about it was two more-or-less restful rides broke up the excitement of the day, and left the kids (3 and 5) in pretty good shape, considering that nobody had a nap that day.

We drove to Downtown Dsney and Typhoon Lagoon. Buses to those places seem to take a long time. We also drove to MGM one morning because we had been waiting 25 minutes for an MGM bus and every other park bus was coming but that one. One finally did come and just drove through the bus stop and left. This was all this past July. When we stayed at AKL in 2001, the bus service was wonderful except for Downtown Disney and Typhoon Lagoon. MK, Epcot and AK bus service was good both trips.
