Driving to HH from Toronto

Hi!

Any recommendations on a good hotel/ city/town to stop along 77?

We'd probably like to drive around 12 hours the first day and have a shorter drive the second day.

We make the trip to HH from Toronto at least once/year. We always stay at either the Marriott Hotel or Residence Inn in Charlotte N.C., Tyvola exit. It is approx. a 12 hour drive, leaving an easy 5 hour trip for the next day.

Do you have a place you like to stop on the way back?

It is actually just over 400 km to Hilton Head from Charlotte, so approximately a four hour drive. It's nice to arrive around lunchtime. We scout out the outlet malls on the 278, and then check into the resort in the early afternoon.
On the return trip we often drive straight through. When we do stop, it is in the Pittsburgh area, approx. 1200 km from HH. There is a lovely new Residence Inn (Cranberry) on Freedom Rd, just off route 19 (exit 25), not far from I-79. There are lots of other hotels in the area.
