We used to drive to FL all the time but as my van ages I am not sure it's a good idea in case we break down. SO I am wondering where my dismates are at with their Dismobiles...:drive:

How old are your vehicles?
How many kms on it?

We have a

2005 Dodge Grand Caravan
155, 000 miles

I have a 2005 Honda Odyssey with just under 100K miles and it will be taking us to FL next week. I have no jitters about it whatsoever.

But it's really more about how reliable YOU believe your vehicle to be. No one knows it better than you.

I've had other cars that barely made it to 100K miles and I wouldn't have trusted them on a long drive.

We have a 2004 Toyota Sienna with 135,000 miles, and I would not hesitate to take it to FL tomorrow. It is 842 miles from home to Disney. The van has never given us any trouble, we have done all the regular maintenance and that's all.

We have a 2010 Honda Accord w abt 110,000 miles. Not worried abt it at all but have AAA just in case.

We just drove last week, 1950 mile round trip for us in our 2003 Chevy Avalanche with 128,000 miles towing our 25' 2008 travel trailer.

In the fall drove 2004 Pontiac Grand Prix with 175,500 miles on it from NJ to New Orleans and back going to take it to DW this summer (will probably have 200,000 + on it by the time we go in August).

No hesitation at all on taking it.

I'm on the other side of this question - our car is a 2005 CTS with 195,000 miles - and has always been reliable with no major problems BUT we ALWAYS RENT something when we take a long road trip (4 hours +) so that we don't have to worry about the WHAT IF IT BREAKS DOWN question - :confused3

In the end - it's what the PPs have said - it's really up to how you feel about your vehicle...hope your trip is a great one with no worries :wizard:

You also have to be mindful that is something does happen you will be a the mercy of a auto mechanic you know nothing about. And also must factor in that if your van breaks down, the repair shop might not have your part and you will have to spend the night some where without a vehicle.
