I know that someone very kindly posted a route plan type thingy not so long back, but I was wondering if anyone has travelled from my neck of the woods (near Hanover) to DLP before?
According to Sally Sat Nav it will take around 8 hours, of course, this is forgetting the roadworks on the A2, the dreadful Antwerp ring road and any other roadworks or incidents.
I really don't want to arrive hot and bothered and totally frazzled from the long journey (complete with an almost 4 year old and the requisit 'are we nearly there' chants). We had planned on staying with friends close to Monchengladbach on the Sunday evening to try to break the journey up a little, but that fell through.
I guess I'm just after a bit of advice or useful info anyone may have.....We did wonder if we went down towards Frankfurt and then across to Paris it would be better than going through all of the different countries then down to Paris....
Any ideas?

I think this is the thread you are referring to, that is linked in The Very Useful Info thread.
Hopefully someone can help with additional information :)

OP, a way to avoid the Antwerp Ring is using the E314.
I don't know how that will work out for you, but every time we go to/ come from Germany, we use that one. It's from Germany to the Netherlands, just a short drive, and then into Belgium. If you like Outlet shopping: there is an Outlet Village in Maasmechelen (and of course the one at La Vallée).
I warn you: it's a boring road. However... real disaster must happen before you get into the daily situations of the Antwerp Ring.

Hi milomummy,
I can`t help with the northern part of the journey, but since I live near Frankfurt (except this year) we have always traveled this way and never had problems with traffic, but then again we started at 5 in the morning and I guess it can get crowded in the area around the Frankfurt airport during the day, but after that you should be fine, it`s only one Autobahn change and from there on straight to DLP. It takes us about 5 hours from Frankfurt to DLP, 2 from Frankfurt to the border and then 3 hours on the A4, with very little traffic. Nice landscapes but a bit boring on the way.
