Hello, I've priced up a break next Feb and with the current 40% off offer I'm very happy with the price. I've also looked at hotel prices at Folkestone and Eurotunnel prices which also come out very reasonable. The only thing I'm worried about is encountering bad weather! I know no-one can predict what the weather will do next Feb, but can anyone who has driven there at that time of year let me know what the drive is like? Many thanks in advance of any replies!

We've done the trip at all times of the year and really the only thing to remember is that the speed limit goes down to 110 kmh in wet weather. The worst weather we have encountered was heavy snow in December and the auto route was reduced to one lane. In this case the journey took six hours instead of three. We have always found auto routes well gritted in icy conditions.

We've driven in February on different occasions, ranging from glorious sunshine to -12 degrees (this year). As cherrymarzipan says, the French roads are very well gritted and we found driving in France much safer than driving from here to Folkestone.

we drove this Februray from Manchester got the boat from Dover to Calais. Other than the drive being extremely long we had no problems whatsoever. I wouldn't drive again but this is due to the length of thr journey with a 5 year old nothing to do with driving conditons.

I fact the adults in our party absolutly loved the road trip to Paris we had such a laugh :rotfl2:

Thankyou for the replies :)

I think we'll go for it then - we will be breaking the journey up with a stopover in Folkestone, and anyway a 7 hour journey of "are we nearly there yet?" is worth the £600 saving by not using the Eurostar! :rotfl:

We have driven down to DLRP when there has been snow, the autoroutes are brill, never had any problems, ok, you pay for the use of them but they are cleared and gritted, far more pleasant than in the UK. Go for it!
