I posted this over on the Transportation board, but not sure what kind of responses I'll get. None so far.
We live in the poconos NE PA/NW NJ area and are planning to drive down to WDW in August this year. Have any of you done this trip? If so, how long did it take you?
We plan on driving straight through with some stops for food, stretching, etc. But it's my DH and I and our DS 11 and DD10. We are using DH's Acura MDX which has 3 rows of seats. I'm not sure how much luggage we can fit with rear seat, so I'm hoping that we all fit very comfortably.
Any help you can all give would be much appreciated.

TIA!!:thumbsup2

Go to mapquest and put both addresses and it will give you the mileage and the time to drive the distance. Just use any of the resort addresses.

Hi I live in Orefield near Allentown we drive every year going this year in June and Aug. When are you going in AUg? We are Aug 13*20 then the Disney cruise AUg 20*23 then driving back we leave at 6pm sharp and drive straight through getting there around 1200noon next day we have 5 kids 15,14 8 ,5 ,4 any more questions just ask thanks Jill

tractorsexy: I did do that, and it said 17hrs 54 mins, but I was just looking for a real-time idea from someone who actually did it.

noritake1: Thanks! That looks like about 18 hours. Do you stop to eat on the way? Or is that just gas and bathroom breaks and that's it? Have a great time on your cruise! We are hoping to do that maybe in another 2 years. You'll have to let me know how your older kids like it. I hope you have a wonderful time at the World too. :wizard: We are going Aug 22-29. :cool1:

HI, we only stop to go to bathroom and not often either. Since the kids would normally be asleep at that time anyway they don't have to go until morning and we only do drive through food, we have found that if we get them out of the car too much it's too hard to get them back in. We also stop at around 430 or so to shut eyes for about 1/2 hr that time of the day just prior to sun up is hard. We have done this drive many times and it's really not bad at all. Any thing else just ask Jill

We live in Northern Va and driven to Disney a few times and doing it all again this May unless I find cheap airline tickets.
I used Google maps and the estimated time was pretty accurate, we did not run into traffic or construction work to slow us down but keep in mind each time you stop to stretch and eat will add about 30min to the trip. I've read of people driving straight thru the night and we tried but the kids (ages 8 and 6) were so uncomfortable trying to sleep while restrained (seatbealt) and it was really tiring for husband and I so now we either stop for the night or leave very early in the day to make it to our destination at bedtime.

I live in NJ-about 15 minutes from East Stroudsburg.

We are driving in August too. We have driven several times. We used to always drive straight through before kids. It took us about 21 hours with stops which included a big sit down breakfast at 4am.

This year though, we are taking 2-3 days each way because we will be traveling with a 2.5 year old and 4 year old. We are planning some fun stops on the way (WDC, St. Augustine, 1-2 beach days, Stone Mtn in Atlanta)

Good luck!

It takes us 12 hours from here in Va. You are about 5 hours from us here.

No real advice, have not done that since a kid from LI, NY 2 times a year. BUT AUG is H O T so be prepared for THAT type trip, meaning have lots of fluids in car (despite the AC) and get a good health check of car before you leave, keep extra water in car JUST in case, personally I would have AAA for that trip!
Best of Luck ad HAVE A BALL, we were 5 kids in the back of a station wagon years ago and what a blast
Stop at South of the Border with the kids!

Same story from the same area - between 20 and 22 hours, depending on the number and length of stops. We have made this drive 4 times from this area...
