Driving to AKL?

I just read that you cannot drive your own car onto AKL property. How would you unload your stuff and park? I would opt for valet ($7 a day is not bad!) but what if we needed to get something out of the car??

I'm not sure if I understood that correctly or not. But we had our car on our last visit to AKL (not valet parking). The parking lot is not at all a bad walk. We had to make trips out to the car a couple of times; it was no problem. When we arrived, we parked our car at the front and put our bags on the sidewalk. The kids and I waited while my husband parked the car and then we carried in our lugguage.

We were able to when we visited. My DBF's family was also able when they stayed there 2 summers ago. and they drove A LOT!!!

Where did you hear that ?

You can drive your own car and the parking lot is not far at all. Sorry someone gave you the wrong info.

I imagine someone gave you ill advice: You can back right up to the luggage room and unload when you arrive and load when you leave. There is room for about 8-10 vehicles at the same time. Not a big deal at all. Very convenient.

Where ever you read that..they were sadly mistaken. Of course you can drive on to AKL property. How else would you get ot the resort. It is just like any other disney resort, self and valet parking.

I remember when AKL first opened, they said you couldn't park there unless you had a room reserved, or you had dinner reservations. Disney did not allow people to park there just to check out the resort. Maybe that's where someone got the idea?

It was on the allears site I think. Maybe they were talking about just driving through. I work at a hotel where our valet is $15 per day so $7 is packet change compared to that!
