We have promised to go see SILI in Raleigh/Durham over our Christmas break--DH wants to either 1) go see her then go to WDW 12/30-1/2 or 2) go to WDW 12/28-12/31 and stop by there and come home on 1/3.
How long does it take to drive from that area to WDW? I know she was here Friday and it took her 11 hours to get from here (Toledo) to her house.

We were stationed in Goldsboro NC for a few years ago and took 2 driving trips to WDW. With a couple stops for gas and stretching, it was about 10 hours total time. Great easy drive down I-95.

Going straight shot from Chapel Hill, NC (i.e. Durham) just stopping for gas and drive-thru, it used to take us 10 hours. Once, in a good line of fast traffic on 95, we made it in about 9, but that was some hard driving, back in the old days:).
That was going I40 East to I95, then South to I-4.
Hope that helps.

p.s. If you plan to go during the week, plan your trip around rush hours in Jacksonville, FL and Raleigh, NC. Those traffic flows are bad at rush hour. (But still not as bad as Charlotte on I77).
