Driving time from Greensboro, NC

We leave on Sunday from Kernersville (hi BobNC). We are planning on taking I-40 to 77 to 26 to 95 (spending the night in Savannah). This seem the best way to go. Anyone have a better or quicker way to go or is this the best?

Can't control my excitement :hyper:

erinsmom,

That is the same route that AAA sent me. It seems like to best way to go. Is that correct BobNC? Bob does this in 9 hours. I would have to wear a Depends to ride with him!;)

I grew up in Branchwood across from the 4th of July Park. My mother still lives there. I miss K-ville.

That is the route we take... except we get on 77 from 85. We live in Concord and 85 is a mile from our house.

I have one of those navigation systems in my car and that is the route it uses too. I already have the Beach Club in my destinations so all I have to do is hit the button. I am ready to go NOW!!:Pinkbounc

Take 40 to 52 South to 85 to 77.....Gosh....Is it time for a Kernersville DisMeet?

I leave in 2 days! I am so excited!

I have only been once, but we drove. I am not a good judge of distance though b/c I always meet up w/family in the Atlanta area. We take I-75 straight down and then hit the toll road over to Orlando. It's around 4 hours to Atlanta (I'm on the west side of Charlotte) and then another 6-7 hours from there (depending on stops). So from Charlotte, I'd say about 10-11 hours. Wednesday we are getting as far as Gainesville and stopping for the night.

Keke,

Have a great trip!

Bob,

Do you think Kernersville can handle a DisMeet? Oh the traffic jams! We like Out West.

I feel like such a man (you have to know Jeff Foxworthy humor) ... but I made it from Tampa FL to Cornelius NC in exactly 10 hrs last month. That is a record for me.

I travel with a 2 1/2 yo who always seems to wake up and need to potty JUST after we pass a rest area.

The drive for me to WDW is about 10 - 11 hrs. So I am sure G'boro will be about the same if you manage the stops well. I did the trip in 2 days last time, left after work and stayed in Brunswick, then continued on in the morning. It was a nice drive, but next time, I am definetly leaving around 5 am and driving through hopefully getting there by 3 or 4:00.

Oh also, I have driven to RDU and flown SW before. Got the $39 each way deal. It works out good, but as RDU is 2 hrs away.. with 2 hrs at the airport and they were late both times.. the over an hr in the air.... if the deal is not TERRIFIC... I would rather drive.

Good luck and have an awesome trip!

Deedee,

That was my husband's thought exactly about travel time to airport and having to be there early. By adding only 2 hours to air travel time we would be in WDW with our own car. I can drive rentals but it makes me nervous especially when I'm not familiar with the roads.

It sounds like you made good time also.

Today is our 30 day countdown.:Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc

forgive the lateness of my reply, just got back:

won't re-hash what all has been posted already, but we have driven from both Chapel Hill (a few years ago), and from the bucolic splendor of Mocksville (now, today as a matter of fact) at least 3 times. I have my notes, i.e. miles, stops, and times, if you need any specific info.
From K-ville, I would definitely take the 77-26-95-4 route. The 'it makes no difference' point on I-40 is between Burlington and Greensboro, closer to Burlington. If you are West of that point, (which you are), go West to 77 for sure. But, try to time your drive around Charlotte rush hours. They are events within themselves, and can take a chunk of time to get through.

Have a safe trip.

Robert P,

What were your travel times from Mocksville and CH.

P.S. I graduated for Chapel Hill. GO HEELS!

Thanks,
