Driving time and cost

go to fuelcostcalculatorcom to find out what gas will cost. Since the site is American you have to use your nearest US city....I use Buffalo and then you need to add on the cost from home to that city.

I thought I'd mention gasbuddy com. They have a trip cost calculator and it allows you to input your own departure/destination locations including Canadian ones.

From home to AKL and back it tells me gas will be $445 for our dodge.

Drove down January 2010 Left Stratford at 4am and we drove as far as McDonough, GA. That’s about 14.5 hours. We stayed at the super 8 there. Room was $59.00.Picked up a hotel coupon book at the rest area. Next morning got up at 8 and drove the rest of the way to Kissimmee witch was about 8 hours. As for Gas filled up three times once in Florence Ky at the Shell at exit 180 and then when we left McDonough, GA. And again just before the florida state line gas is more in florida then Ga. As For meals stopped for one big meal both days. Coming home we drove straight home took us 23 . And like one of the other poster we also used the along I75 book and also took my CB out of my big truck to hear where all the cops where sitting.

DH and I drove down in February for 7 weeks and stayed in Windsor Hills and Daytona Beach. Yes, we could have flown for less, but when you factor in the cost of the rental car for that time period, it becomes very cost effective to drive. We also like to stop at the Carolina Outlets on the way down as we find better deals there than in Orlando! Yes, the drive is long and tedious at times, but we are retired now and have lots of time to vacation on our hands.

PS. For my next trip in September, my friend and I are both flying and using ME and staying at POP for the entire 14 days. Direct flight was $300 return. No need to drive when you can travel for that price!

We've driven every year, except 2007 (DD was too young for the long car ride) Cost us about $500-$600 return each year. Have Hilton points and always try to stay at Hampton Inns. Very clean and free breakfest!
