when driving past Vegas, is there a way to drive AROUND to avoid congestion? We don't care about seeing the place..... my AAA map has us going thru:scared1:

I assume you're taking I-15 through Vegas toward Southern California?

Not really. I mean, 215 goes around the perimeter of Vegas. But it wouldn't be any faster. In rush hour, you'll be stuck on either one, but probably stuck less by staying on 15. And in non-rush hour, I-15 is a whole lot shorter and faster.

The best you can do is avoid rush hour and or use the express lanes(these are like carpool lanes, not a toll lane).

the construction right now does sometimes make driving here unbearable.

But if you are coming I15N just stay to the left lane/express lanes and it will only take you like 15 from the I-215/I-15 interchange to the Craig Rd exit, which is basically the last exit from the vegas area.

if you were to exit the I-215 west to go all the way around it would take you about 60min(40ish if you were to cut across summerlin parkway, but that has a bit of construction so it can vary) to get around and there is nearly zero traffic anytime to that craig/i-15 area

if you were to exit i-215 east and go to 95n/93n/i515 (all the same basic highway, just referenced by only one name sometimes) and then connect back to i-15 about 5-6mins south of the craig/i-15 area would be about 40 min with nearly zero traffic as well

basically, there is no benefit in going around the las vegas strip area unless there is a bad accident. there are highway traffic signs both north and southbound and if they indicate more than double the typical 15 min southbound to i-215 or 15 min northbound to craig rd, than it may be beneficial to detour.

But if you are coming from the 95N highway and it tells you to go i-215 west to the I-15 North , then that is a waste of time. just stay on 95n and connect to i-15
