Driving through Atlanta just before a baseball game?

I doubt that the Braves will postpone their game for me just so I can drive through town unobstructed by traffic.:confused3 That being said, what is it like driving through Atlanta in the 60-90 minutes before a game? If we stay in the HOV lane, can we still move through town without a problem? Or should we plan on going around town on the bypass?

One this Saturday headed down, 7:15 vs. Baltimore. Two weeks later coming home, Saturday at 4:05 vs. Washington.

Ouch. Those could be two highly attended games. Especially the Washington game. And if Strasburg pitches for Washington that night, that will probably be a sellout.

Hopefully, someone from Atlanta will chime in.

60 - 90 minutes may not be enough. I don't drive through game traffic on the weekend but during the week and rush hour--they start clogging up traffic for a 7:05 game at 4:00.

It will also depend on what else is happening that weekend at the Dome and the World Congress Center.

Those are 2 big games and attract a huge crowd.

I used to live near Five Points and wouldn't leave my apartment on game days due to the awful traffic.

I don't know what other Atlanta folks would do but I know I'd be on I-285 instead of staying on I-75. On a Saturday, I-285 shouldn't be too bad since it's not a weekday.

Guess the verdict is go around town. I still think that they should just change the time of the games for me. ;) I like driving through there and seeing downtown. Besides, I like seeing the look on my country girl wife as she counts how many lanes of traffic are going in each direction.:)
