We're driving from Philly area with overnight stops at Rocky Mount and Savannah. Any recommendations about where you've stayed? I've done a lot of research and there are a lot of places to choose from. So far, I've been basing my choices on price and proximity to 95. Any help is greatly appreciated!

We drive from central jersey. We stop over at Savannah Gateway. There are a bunch of diff. hotels. All are very nice, clean & safe. They are fairly new, or they look like they are. If you look up Savannah Gateway it'll give you all the info. We usually stay at the best western ther for around 70.00 for the night. They all are really nice stopover hotels. THe area outside the hotels are all lit up at night which is a plus if your a worrier like me. I wish I had the exact website for you, but I don't. We stayed there this past april & have been for the last few years. From there disney is 6hrs. away. They have nice restaurants too.

In Rocky Mount, we've like to stay at a Fairfield Inn that is located across from a major shopping mall area. It's only a mile or two off of I-95, but worth the drive for the selection of restaurants literally across the street.

HTH!

The Marriott in Savannah is nice and located on the waterfront. Plenty of sights and places to eat if you have a little time.

Depends on where you want to stay. Are you going to spend any time here, or are you just passing through? If you're just passing through, the previous poster was right about the hotels at Sav. Gateway (the intersection of I95 and Hwy. 204). There are several hotels there that are relatively new, as well as a Cracker Barrel, Perkins, Hardee's, etc. for food choices...and also a factory outlet strip mall kind of thing...If you're gonna stay a while and look around, the historic district is beautiful, and there are lots of choices there too. There is a Marriott on the river, as well as a Hyatt, and a couple of other inns that are privately owned. Also in the historic district we have a brand new Radisson, and also a Hilton, The Mulberry Inn,(which I think is owned by Holiday Inn), and several bed and breakfasts....There are lots of great restarants downtown too, including The Lady and Sons, which has become pretty well known, lots on River Street, and some chain ones like Outback Steakhouse, TGI Fridays, etc. If you want any more info, let me know!!! Have a great trip!
