For the first time I am considering renting a car at Disney. Not sure if I should get the car at MCO, or the next day at the car care center. How difficult is it to get out of MCO traffic wise? If we pick up our checked luggage and then rent the car and then to WL - would we save any time over taking ME? I can get a god corporate rate at National and pick up a car fairly quickly on the aisle. Arriving at noon on a Tuesday - will we hit much traffic?

Its very easy to get from MCO to WDW in a rental car. The traffic isn't bad at all when you take the south exit from the airport and use route 417 (AKA the Greenway). There are two tolls on that road of something like $1.50 each (not sure the exact amount) and there are attended toll booths if you don't use the rental company's transponders.

Comparing the time to DME is difficult because with DME you don't have to wait for your luggage but you will have to wait for the bus. That might be anywhere from 2 minutes to 20 minutes. Drive time to WDW is the same as the bus transit time but with a rental car you go straight to your resort while the bus might have to stop at other resorts first.
