Boyfriend and I are going to Disney in January, 2004. Right now, we have booked the train from Philadelphia (Sleeper Car) to Orlando, BUT now we are thinking about driving! Anyone who has done one or the other or both, please respond!

Have you considered the AutoTrain. It combines driving and the train. There are several posts here that describe the AutoTrain.

We have done both. The last trip we drove down and took the auto train home. I will definitely take the auto train when we go again. We had no problems and really enjoyed the trip. We did not get a sleeper and were comfortable in the regular seats.

Having driven from NEPA numerous times and then finding the Silver Liners out of Philadelphia the past two times you can bet we will not be driving again. To arrive refreshed makes all the difference to us and if you book far enough ahead or when Amtrack is running specials you can get a great rate. We always take the 1:50 train out of Philadelphia and a deluxe sleeper since my husband perfers the enclosed toilet and shower in the sleeper. The service and food is great and the time passes very quickly. We are in fact leaving Thanksgiving day once again from Phila and already are planning a trip the following Nov and are just waiting to make the reservations when the Nov rates for 2004 come out.
