Driving Legoland to LGB

We are planning a 1/2 day at Legoland before flying home from Long Beach. Our flight is at 6:10 PM on a Friday and we will have a rental car to return. The map says the distance is 72 miles with a drive time of 1 1/4 hours. Is that accurate? What time would you leave Legoland for the airport?

LGB airport is a great airport -love it! It is small and the rental cars places are literally a few hundred feet from the baggage area. Are you hoping to be at the airport around 4:30pm? I would think that would give you plenty of time to return the car and then check in and walk to the gate.

Because I am more on the conservative side, I would probably allow at least 2 hours, if not 3 hours to get back from Legoland.

Maybe the locals here can share what afternoon traffic is like, plus, if there is any construction going on.

If you get back to the LGB area with some time to kill you could always grab an early dinner before your flight. There are a lot of restaurants/fast food places in the area.

Uh, no. On a friday afternoon there will be TONS of traffic starting at 3pm. I would leave at 2:30 for a 6pm flight out of long beach.
