Hey all!

So we go in 14 days!!! Whoop! And this time we've decided to drive from yorkshire and use the tunnel crossing... Which some may consider brave with dd5 abd dd15 months!! Never driven before (always flew!) abd staying for the first time in chayenne:)

Question I have is-
So we have looked on driving info and we have purchased/got ready breathelizers, high vis jackets and GB sticker... What we haven't got it the headlight reflectors and I'm wondering if we will need them?!? We are driving both journeys at lunch time and we do not plan on using the car at all there-so no night driving.. Reflectors in halfords are £8 with seemingly a lot of faff using them... As we're not driving at night-could we get away with not having them on? What's the penalty (if any) of not having them and likelihood of getting caught?!?

Also-does anyone know whether the Cheyenne has hair dryers and kettles in the room?!? As standard? I've read inthe past you could book them for a deposit? If so- how much are we talking?!?

TIA:)

Hi,

You don't need the breathalysers now, but would definitely recommend the headlight reflectors, as it's always possible the police could check them if you were stopped for any reason (not sure what the penalty is mind?).

You can get them really cheap on ebay: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Eurolites...439?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item3385d1f867

They're easy enough to apply, and I usually just stick them on when I get to the Tunnel.

Some great info here on driving to DLP here: http://www.disboards.com/threads/travelling-to-dlp-by-car.2802801/

Thanks markpsych for the info-knew you don't get fined for not having breathalizers but if rather have them tha get taken to a police station to be checked etc... Plus they weren't much:) as the reflectors seemed more expensive, kinda wanted to avoid it if poss...thanks for the eBay link too-will check them out!

So would it matter if only driving during the day to not apply them?

Any ideas about Cheyenne?!?

Thanks again

I would definitely apply the headlight deflectors - it might be dull or rainy so you'd want to put your lights on. It'd be awful to think you couldn't.

We loved the Cheyenne. We definitely had a kettle one time but not another, it was a bit hit and miss. But it's a while since we stayed there so someone else will probably be able to advise you on that :surfweb:.

Headlights are subject to a 3rd category fine, which is 68€

Police won't care if you're not intending on driving at night. It's condidered a safety equipment and must be present and in working order ... Or else ... ;)

Îf you are stopped during conditions requiring the use of headlights ( night, heavy rain, fog and so on) and don't have the required equipment, you car can be stopped where it is and you'll be pedestrians until conditions clear or you install the deflectors ...(on top of the fine of course)

This is what you risk, not a prediction of what would happen, only what could happen

Exactly, chances are you won't be stopped but IF you are for whatever reason and regardless of time of day, you will be fined at best so it really isn't worth the risk.

Re. the kettle, if the room doesn't have one in there already (and it is just luck there), all you have to do is request one from reception for a refundable deposit - €30 I think. I can't remember about hair-dryers specifically in the Cheyenne but I think all on-site hotels have them in the bathrooms. The Cheyenne complex has lovely theming so have a great time there! :goodvibes
