Driving I-77 to I-95 during Easter week..

We're driving from Cleveland via I-77 to I-95 during Easter break. We plan on leaving on Good Friday evening and driving to the southern end of W. Va and spending the night and getting up early the next day and driving straight through to FL. (We're stopping for 2 nights to visit family just n.e. of Orlando.) We did this last June with no problems. But I anticipate much more traffic around Easter. Has anyone done this over Easter break? Can you still drive 70mph? Is it a bumper to bumper type thing? How bad is it??

We Drive NJ to WDW at least rwice a year, love the trip. However, last easter was the worst experience we ever had with traffic, no rooms etc. All the way from MD through the daytona area was very slow. My wife commented that if that had been our first trip down she would never drive again.

However, that was only one trip, luck of the draw, hopefully you will fare way better than us. Enjoy

We drove Easter time 2 years ago. Our experience was much like Larry K. Except we got stuck behind an accident for 2 hrs on 95 in South Carolina. I'd try to leave the night before you are planning, you may be able to get a head start before the rest of the traffic. Definately have reservations for hotels on the road.

Watch the weather! I'm sure you'll be doing that already, especially since you're from the snow belt, but I-77 in WVA and NC is pretty mountainous. We used to drive thru there regularly and many times it would be snowing there and not anywhere else (like Cleveland!). And with Easter so early, March is still winter in that area!
