Is there a good way to drive there from TX without hitting I-10? Part of our group really hates 10, (saw too many fatal wrecks on it on their last trip to WDW), and are planning on avoiding it. What is a good alternate route? What is the difference in drive time?

There are a couple of other ways but it is back road and would add alot of time. What part of I10 worries you? Things I would thing try to avoid are
Panhandle during night driving. Nothing much to see. Try to avoid the major cities during rush hours.

Depending on what part of I10 they want to avoid, instead of take I49 from Shreveport LA down to Baton Rouge then getting on I10 you could go the route we took. We drove in Mar 2004 we left DFW and took I20 to Jackson, MS then US49 to Hattiesburg MS then jumped onto US98 to Mobile, AL. From there we got on I10. Its still a long drive on I10 at that point. Something like 6 hours to Lake City where you catch up with I75.

Maybe check with AAA to see if they can give you some good alternates if you must really avoid I10.
