We are planning on driving thurs jan 9th and check in to our wdw resort Friday morning.
2 ?s...

1. What time should we leave thurs in order to NOT waste a day and be able to go to park that fri?
2. We want to stop in a hotel at some point, where and when should we stop? We have a 3 year old...

Thanks!

We always leave at 4pm and drive straight through, stopping many times for bathroom breaks, snacks, leg stretching, switching drivers, etc. The kids watch movies until 9pm, then sleep while we keep moving. We usually arrive around 10-11am, so by the time they wake up (usually with the sun), there's not much farther to go. If you're stopping for a hotel, you'll want to leave early in the morning Thursday and go most of the way.

There is a thread on transportation board for people driving over 1000 miles round trip. Many of the people are driving from nj and have good tips about routes to use and places to stop

I also live in NJ and we leave at 3:45 a.m. (I can't do the overnight drive :rotfl:) and stay overnight in Jacksonville. We did it in February and arrived in Jacksonville around 6:00 p.m. We stayed at a Holiday Inn Express and you get free breakfast. We at breakfast and then had about a 2 hour drive to WDW we were there around 10:00 a.m. and had the whole day. We leave in 12 days for WDW and plan on doing the same thing. FYI there are 2 Holiday Inn Express hotels in the Jacksonville area which are right off of 95. For this trip it is costing us $87 and we get the free breakfast.

We leave at 4am and we are checking in our Disney Hotel at 8pm. The kids fell back to sleep by 8 am and slept til lunch. The ride felt like it flew by. I will never leave any later again. If you do it this way you can book Thursday night at Disney and be refreshed and ready Friday morning already in Disney.

If you really want to leave later and stay at a hotel on the road, then leave around 8am on Thursday and drive until you get to Savannah Georgia. Leave by 8am Friday morning and you'll be in Disney by 1pm.

We drive our RV down for our stay at fort wilderness. We have a campsite and a cabin this trip for the family.
We leave at 3:00am stop in Jacksonville for the night then on to Disney in the morning.

I would leave in the morning and get just past Jacksonville. Get up the next morning, and go the rest of the way.
