I have been reading alot lately about the long wait for a bus from MK back to POP and was wondering if we would be better off driving ourselves. We will have a car and will be there the week before Easter so I know it will be crowded.
If we do drive, how far is it from the parking lot to the MK.
I am not so worried about taking busses to the other parks as I have not read as much about long lines like MK.
The last thread I read, the person was in line an hour waiting for their bus.

Thanks for your input.

Just so you know, when you drive to the MK, you have to take the Monorail or Ferry. When leaving the MK, the lines for the monorail and ferry boat can get quite long, and then you still have to wait in the also long lines for the parking tram, as most of the parking lot really isn't walking distance. Then, you have to battle traffic out of the lot, and back to Pop.

If you choose to drive and leave for a mid day swim, remember that the parks can be closed to any more people if they are full to capacity. This happened two spring breaks ago. People driving to MK could not get in. I know of people who had friends in the park and they could not get back in to meet up with them.

Correct me if I am wrong here Tyler, but aren't people who are staying on property guaranteed to get in to the parks as long as they are using Disney transport? I want to say I read this somewhere when I was there in August.

When the MK closes, it does so in phases.

-Parking lot closes, all guests driving are re-routed to Epcot parking lot.
-Park closes to day guests who haven't already purchased tickets. Disney Resort guests, and day guests who have already purchased tickets are still admitted.
-Park closes to all day guests. Disney Resort guests are still admitted.
-Park closes to ALL guests.

(Day Guests = those who are not staying at a Disney Resort)

Disney Resort guests get the advantage, in that they are still let in for the first three phases. (Resort ID required) Only the final phase are they not allowed in, and that is because the park is full. (In all honesty, you don't want to be in the park when it's that full.) It should be noted that once you walk through that turnstile to exit, you are NOT guaranteed to get back in.
