Hello!
My mom, sister and I are planning on a trip Dec. 2014. I realize we're a bit early in planning, but we need to know soon how much this trip will cost. So, anyway.

we're going to drive from Philadelphia. We live 5 mins from a southbound ramp of I-95. We were thinking of leaving around 9pm and driving straight to WDW. Does anyone have any tips on what to avoid? My mom said to leave at this time, to avoid rush hour traffic, at least DC. according to GoogleMaps, we could do 95 the whole way.
Any tips and advice you can give would be great! thanks :)

Leaving at 9:00 will get you to DC around midnight. Depending on your stops for food, gas and other things you should make WDW mid to late afternoon. This far out there is no way to know if any overnight construction on I-95 will affect your trip. After you get thru Virginia the next place for rush hour is Jacksonville
Based on my one time driving straight thru (with 4 drivers leaving the Cherry Hill NJ area at that time of night) don't plan anything that day. We just crashed at the pool and went to dinner.
PS In all the times I did drive I-4 around Orlando always seemed busy no matter what time or day of the week.

When we drive (north Delaware) we leave between 6:30 and 9:00 PM.

We average 14 hours straight through so you might be close to 15.

That would get you in between 9am and noon.

Only issue in December is the weather, be prepared to adjust your times, rather than getting into ice and heavy snow.

We are planning the same drive but in September 2014. Our plan is to leave Wednesday around 12pm and hit Savannah, GA overnight. We hope to be in Savannah at 12am but if we aren't, we aren't! Our plan is to leave at 6am and hopefully be at our hotel around 12pm. We do plan to hit a park and do dinner!

Thanks for the advice. We will watch for the weather, I hadn't even thought of that. Thanks!

As long as you hit Baltimore by 7:30, you should be in the clear regarding traffic. Granted, there are always accidents, and that can throw a wrench in things, but those can happen any time of day.
