Hi! I use to live in Rockland but am now in Orange county. Anyway, which airport are you looking at? Living in Rockland you can also try looking at the prices at Stewart airport in Newburgh(it's actually 20 min from my house in Goshen and a great small airport) depending on where you are in Rockland no more than a 45 min to an hour drive or the White Plains airport which wouldn't be more than a half hour from you.

Hi all former Rockland-ers.

I've looked on numerous sites and have chosen "NYC area" the departure city. We check in on a Sunday and leave on the following Sunday, so I know that's messing me up a bit as far as pricing goes. We're going from 8/24-8/31. I've tried flights from the 23rd and leaving the 1st too, but having terrible luck. We live in Nanuet.

Well so far on JB I see $114 down on the 23rd and $154 on the return on the 1st through JFK, LaGuardia comes up at $129 and $214 on same dates, Newburgh on those dates is $184 each way, on Hotwire.com I got $260 and up roundtrip on your "actual dates" and going on 8/23-9/1 I got as low as $254. Now I don't know how those times work for you but......there are flights and you can save big time from what you saw. How that would work out with extra hotel nights?????thats your call. I definitely appreciate you looking on behalf. But even if I take the cheapest of what you found, the first example, it comes out to $536 withOUT taxes/fees/extras they add on for tickets. Let's say it's another $100 for all that, so $636. I think I might be being generous there. I have a 6 year old, so getting in late would be rough, but let's say we do that. Then we'd have to find accomodations for two extra nights, which lets say we get REALLY lucky and find something for $80 (unlikely)... That still comes out to around $800. If I drive down (please keep in mind I have excellent gas mileage, having a Corolla) and get accomodations for two nights at, let's say $100/night, I'm spending roughly $450, roundtrip. I'd pack food to bring with us also, so I'm not factoring in food $ there. It still looks like I come out way on top. I know it would be more convenient, and perhaps worth the extra money to fly, but honestly I just don't have the budget for that.

Congrats to the people who found great airfare. Last year my son and I flew at the same time of year and our tickets were $350, roundtrip. *Sigh*

I used to live in Nanuet!!! Small world huh?

I found a flight out of Newburgh on Aug 25 for $79 per person going down and then one coming back on Sept. 1 for $184 each. If you add a couple more days at the end and fly home on Sept. 3 there is a flight for $104 per person. You would have to change your dates to get a cheaper flight. At least that's what it looks like now. Going down to WDW on Aug. 24 there are some decent prices out of Newark. But the day you are coming home is really outrageous with the price! Every airline has that day at no less than $200 per person!

I wanted to add to just check the Jetblue site, you'll be able to see all the airports near you, not just NYC ones because other sites like expedia or cheaptickets won't include Newburgh or White Plains.
