Hi everyone,
We wll be renting a car and driving from MCO to Vero in a few weeks.
Can someone tell me the approximate cost of the tolls between the airport and Rte 95? Also are there automatic machines that take coins or toll takers? Do we need exact change at any toll?
What is Rte 1 like along the coast?I have mapped out 2 different routes, one getting on Rte 1 South in Palm Bay/Malabar, in order to stop at Walmart on the way to Vero. It travels about 18 miles on route 1. Rte 1 up here in the NE is full of local traffic with lots of strip malls and stop lights.
The second route I mapped has us staying on 95 much longer and we come into Vero south of the Walmart.
I am wondering if this is the better route (avoiding the local traffic) even though we will have to back track to Walmart.
Any suggestions?

Here is what you need to do. (My in-laws live 1 mile south of the Vero Beach Resort and I am a veteran of this trip.)

Leave the Airport traveling East on 528.
Exit 528 at exit 31 onto Route 520 (widened recently, light traffic).
Follow 520 to I-95 South.
Take I-95 south to Exit 156.
Go LEFT off the exit onto CR 512 East.
After a couple of miles go RIGHT onto CR 510.
Follow 510 ALL THE WAY TO THE BEACH, crossing US1 as you go. You will cross the Wabasso Bridge.
510 ENDS at FL A1A. Go RIGHT on A1A and the resort is on the immediate left.

No more than an hour an a half. I've made this trip every possible way and this is the only route I'll ever take again.

A few dollars in quarters each way will cover the tolls on 528.
