We are taking our first trip and driving from northern Indiana (about an hour north of Indy). We are taking 65/24/75 route. We plan on leaving no later than 3am on the Monday morning (stopping only to eat and potty breaks), so we will pass Louisville, Ky before morning rush hour starts... so the spots that concern me most on the trip are Nashville, Chattanooga, Atlanta and actually getting to All-Star Movie Resort. Anyone familiar enough with these to give me advise how to best navigate and which route is best to take to the resort from the turnpike (all the online maps show different routes and confused me :confused3 and I am usually good with maps). We do have a reservation to stop at a hotel in Lenox, GA

Do you belong to AAA they have triptiks that give you advise. And It would help you out with timing.

we r from indiana to and we drive through Nashville, chattanooga and atlanta.. and u want to make sure you want to be at atlanta by at least 9pm that way the traffic isnt bad.. but it will be somewhat backed up espically if you are traveling through friday night.. but other than that the travel isn't that bad..

as far as the best route to take to get to the All star resort.. we always used I-4 to follow the signs to Disney World Resorts but last year we used the New Bypass they opened up.. my wife thinks it's called the ( east-west) parkway.. it cut travel time by 20 mins it seems like.. but u might want to call AAA to find out for sure.. but we never had a problem using either one.. .. we r going to on April 13- 22.

Thanks for all the replys... as for AAA we don't belong... This is only my 2nd long distance driving trip (drove to NC 3 years ago). My mom drove it mannnny years ago and says to take the circles around large cities, especially Atlanta, but I read posts that said it is better to drive thru. Of course it has been severall years since she drove the area so things may have changed... I would like to know more about the parkway to the resorts too.

Hello...........I live about an hour east of Indy on 74 and we drive to Atlanta FREQUENTLY......so I can help you with a few of the time estimates. If you leave at 3 am, you should be in Louisville by around 6, which would put you through Nashville around 9ish..........from there you should hit Atlanta around 12:30/1:00 ish.........after that, I can't help you too much...........I think Orlando is another 6-7 hours from there...........Hope that helps a little bit!!!

Dani1121 has the timing about right. I live just a ways north of you (Bluffton). Just be prepared for the unexpectied traffic tie ups, esp around Nashville and Georgia (always seems to be construction). Louisville can be a little slow at times. Go through Atlanta using the HOV lanes. Much quicker than the bypass or the non HOV lanes. AAA always routes drivers down 27 to rte. 192 to the parks. It avoids dowtown Orlando. I do not know much about the by-pass

I'm pretty sure Nashville is central time, so 3 hours past Louisville puts you in Nashville at 8:00am, their prime rush hour. Maybe a breakfast break at one of the Cracker Barrels in KY before the Tn border would be in order.

Having driven in Louisville and Nashville a lot there is no comparison. Avoid Nashville. the I65 to I24 path is very busy no matter what time of day you hit. Try to time it after the 830 am rush and yes they are on CST. When passing Atlanta go right thru the middle of town. ITs about 7 more hard hours from Atlanta to Orlando. Good Luck and have a great time

"stopping only to eat or potty breaks":rotfl:
did my DH nebo plan your trip? He is worse than that. I stare at the gas gauge, cause I know I can't go potty until he needs to fill the gas tank!: I'm afraid ro even drink a little juice pack!:lmao:
by the way, a great rest stop is in tennessee, just before the BIG STEEP hill, before Chatanooga. we buy subway the day before the trip, and pull over there to eat our sandwiches (picnic tables, WASHROOMS- yay, etc). we come from 40 miles north of chicago, and usually stay over in southern Ga.
of course, Nebo has to get "just a little further south" than we did the last trip.

LOL!!! Of course, you could do the "Lisa Mare Nowak long distance travel plan", and wear adult diapers!!!:scared1:

ShhhQ, I've had pretty good luck with using Mapquest for trip planning:

We too drive from Indiana. We are 1 hr from indy or louisville ky. We have always taken the by-passes, but have been told by several to drive right thru Atlanta. We always hit atlanta about midnight so we dont have any problems. I was wondering about the other by-passes? Should we avoid those too? Any suggestions for a quicker trip?
Thanks!!
Jill
