Hi: We are driving to wdw in dec. Not sure depending upon weather which route we will take. Looking at I75 which hubby hates, but wondering where will we be if we drive 12 to 13 hours from the hamilton or london area?

Thanks,

Deb.

I've been looking at this same route for our March Break trip. Knoxville, TN is just over 800km from Detroit/Windsor and adding the time from the Golden Horseshoe would probably put you at around the 12 hour mark.

Best of luck in your holiday planning.

I75 will get you to the Georgia Welcome Centre we leave at 7 PM and arrive there about 7-7:30 AM. We drive an average of about 60 MPH and we only make stops for gas and to hit Timmies on the way by Dayton Ohio.

My hubby thought the speed on I75 was 75 miles an hour, is this true? I am looking at dalton, georgia then for our stopover. Would you drive in the night during the month of december, just thinking about icy conditions.

Thanks,

Deb.

The speed limit depends on the state or even the county so it does flucuate throughout the interstate. I think Georgia may be 75 MPH. I would just make sure not to hit Atlanta at rush hour (7:30-9:30 am & 3:00 - 6:00 pm.) We lived there for a year and it was some of the worst traffic I have ever seen!! The weather will just depend on what is happening the week you are travelling. I would think you will be fine through the Southern States in December but you could hit snow and ice through Michigan and Ohio.

We drove down a month ago, and Dalton is about 12.5-13 hours from London. We stayed at the Comfort Suites.

Hi: Thanks digskat, we were just trying to figure if dalton was where we want to stop from hamilton.

Did you like the comfort suites there as far as safety, cleanliness and the breakfast buffet?

How many hours did it take you to get to walt disney world from Dalton?

Deb.

Approx 8 hrs from Disney. The comfort suite is very safe and clean and the buffet was awesome start to the day. Staff very friendly.

I am pretty sure Georgia is only 70MPH as for the dricving at night question we have only ever had one time it was icy and that was in 03 and it was only the bridges in Ohio everyothing else was fine and once you hit Cinci it was all clear.

I too live near London Ont. Wow I have never made it that far on my first day. One tip from me is to get ALONG I75 By Dave Hunter. Best book/hand guide we had on our last trip. It tells you speed limits, hotels, restaurants etc.... Will have it with us on every trip. Have fun and safe drive. :flower:

I agree Along the I75 is a great resource to have for that trip. We always make it to the Gerogia Welcome centre in 12 hours or there abouts anyhow.

:wave2: Hi Disney Mama! Welcome to the Canadian board! Friendliest one on the DIS. Hunter's book is a must when we travel, too! And 12 hours for us is usually Sweetwater, Tenn.

We made it to exit 101 on I-75 in 12.5 hours. Then we did the drive from there to Disney in 5 more. Then on the way home we drove from Tampa Bay STRAIGHT home to Leamington/Kingsville Ontario area in 23 hours. We would of made it quicker if we would of never got caught in the "Rita" hurricane in Sept. The Florida/Georgia boarder got nailed with a bad storm. We also used Daves book and it was a god sent!
