When I plug in instructions from Map Quest and Yahoo I get two different routes....

I'm gonna post the two differences. Can someone who's driven them or parts of them help me out?

TIA

Thank you so much. I'll be doing this as driver/navigator (all by myself) and want the easiest way and least traffic...

We always do the Mapquest route (I think). We go through Riverside and take the 57. There are toll lanes, but you can't use them unless you have a prepaid toll card, so you won't have to worry about them. Just make sure you are avoiding peak traffic times going through Riverside, and you'll be ok.

DLR is in the middle of a lot of freeways and I think both routes are fine. I grew up in Riverside and usually just go 91 to 57 and then south to Katella. DangerMouse is right that the toll roads are optional and require special passes. So you can ignore the toll road comments on Yahoo.

I borrowed my step-father's toll pass last year and it was nice. The 91 freeway west into Anaheim is terrible in the morning hours on weekdays, and terrible east in the evenings. The traffic around Riverside can be pretty bad morning and evenings on weekdays. Plus there is a lot of construction going on around the 60/91 crossing location. I would either do the drive thru Riverside to Anaheim mid-day or after 7-8PM if I had a choice.

Just a word of warning about the freeways around Riverside. It was either the 60 or 91 - I can't remember - I'm an easterner! They are completely under construction with a major project going on. We were vacationing in Palm Springs and drove down to DL ten days ago. The area around Riverside was horrible - even when we came back around 10 p.m. So just plan to budget extra time - we haven't planned on that and it was very frustrating!

Thanks all. I don't mind Interstates and Freeways... I just want to go the best route ya know. I actually really LOVE to drive... LOL!

And thanks for the construction warnings too everyone!

Danger mouse... is that a decent route then (the Mapquest one)>...

Hoping for a few more opinions too.

We are in AZ too - and always take the mapquest route. Pay close attention on the 215 part - invariably we get off on the wrong spot (due to the construction and lack of signage), and take a detour :sad2: .

We'll be going from Peoria in two weeks. I will try to remember to let you know which route we took and how it went. I think we plan on doing the MapQuest Route.

We're in Tucson. Normally we go I-8W to I-5N, but when we take I-10 we go the mapquest way too. :)

Oh, I would so appreciate that.

And thanks everyone else too. I love this board.

We usually leave from El Mirage and use MapQuest route except the last part. We asked at a gas station once near there and they suggested we get off on Harbor on the 91 and then we turn left and go about 2 or 3 miles to our hotel. we go about every 2 to 4 months for the past year and a half this way.

That huge construction project is a mess!! We usually go through it late morning or late night and get on ok. But get ready for Interstate 10 type traffic at 6am in Phoenix. Yes its that bad lol.

Edit: Forgot to add it takes us about 5 1/2 to 6 hours and I live pretty close to Glendale. we usually stop for one gas break and a bathroom break. In March there were no rest areas open in California so be sure visit Arizonas open ones. I am going again In May.

Seems to me when we drive we also take the mapquest route. I'm usually the one navigating but I have a terrible memory so I can't be sure.

These days I just fly. It's chearper for me with just the two of us.

Again thanks... I appreciate all the feedback.

I'm not from PHX. But that's where I'm starting this leg of the trip.

I-10 can be a NIGHTMARE... but at least I'm starting from the Westernish side of PHX... LOL

Still will appreciate any and all feedback!

I always take the Mapquest route (coming from El Paso to LA - we drive past Disneyland)... Anyway...

Depending on the time of day, I'm not really fond of going from the 10 to the 60 because then you are going through more hills, and there are trucks, and they go fast. I'm more comfortable staying on the 10, to the 215 south, which turns into the 91. If you go 10-215S-91-57 you'll have less freeways to worry about.

Just wanted to say hi to all the folks from Arizona. We moved back here from texas last July and are soooooooo glad to be back..... Have a great trip.:)

In January we did that whole 10-60-215-91 yadda, yadda, yadda thing. With the construction, it was a total nightmare. We asked at the hotel (GCH) if there was a simpler way to go back. They had us do the 50something (55 or 57 maybe?) straight into the 10. It was way easier and much quicker because there was no construction and we didn't get lost. I would just take the 10 to whatever the highway (50something) is that goes to Disneyland. Do not follow the mapquest or the yahoo route. You will regret it.
