How long is the drive from DTW to London? And is it an easy drive? I am trying to decide if it is worth the extra money to fly directly into London.

Thanks

If DTW is Detroit then it is a good two and half hours drive from the airport (including getting over the bridge). Could be less if bridge traffic is light and depending whether you want to be in the north or south part of the city. We live north of the city and it is 2 hours from our driveway to the Ambassador bridge. The airport is about 15 minutes from the border, if my memory is right.

Be cognizant of the traffic and changing weather conditions and drive carefully. The section of the 401 between Windsor and London is problematic. Speeding and small shoulders cause most of the problems.

We have flown from London to Detroit to Orlando and I wont drive to Det. again. The road is dangerous and boring. It is worth the flight to us .The flight is about 30 mins.I think.

We have driven to both DTW and Flint and we always take the 402 and cross at Sarnia. We tend to fly Spirit from DTW and Air Tran from Flint. Both offer non-stop flights to MCO and both generally have excellent prices.

I don't mind driving a couple of hours for a flight not just to clear customs at the border (as opposed to the airport) but also to save some $$$. I just refuse to drive the 401. And from London, I find the 402/I94 route is just as fast as the 401.

A flight from DTW to London will probably be more than your flight from MCO to DTW. The drive is not that bad if you want to save some money and there is also an Air Bus (RobertQ) that you can take. The Air Bus is about a 3 hour trip as they make a couple of stops and stick to the speed limit.
