Driving from D.C.

Ok, if Independence really folds before our trip I am thinking about driving down instead. Its just Dh and I and we were going to rent a car anyway.

We currently have a mid-size SUV for around $130 (from 01/05-01/11)

If we have to drive a compact would be $238 plus gas.

My question is, how much should I figure in gas and how long will it take us? TIA!

My DH drives all the time (he is afraid to fly) and we are from DC. It takes him about 12-14 hours depending upon when and how long he stops. Its usually about the 12 hour mark.
