Ok, here goes. I am driving from CT this saturday alone with ds13. I am planning on going I-95 all the way with a stop at six flags safari in new jersey. I know I can get to six flags because I have done it before. I thought I would go straight down I-95 from six flags but it looks like there are some areas where it turns into something else and then goes back into I-95. My question is, is there any place where it will get very tricky so that I can prepare. My ds will be of no help. thanks in advance.

I have made the drive down to Orlando quite a few times. It really is easy.
I take the Parkway into NY, but you can take I-95. Follow signs once you get into NY for the Tappen Zee bridge. Over the Tappen Zee bridge, and follow signs for the NJ Turnpike (exit 7a is the exit for Great Adventure).
Keep on the NJ Turnpike until you see signs for I-95 then get back onto I-95. Follow I-95 all the ay down to Florida. Once in Fl follow the signs that will take you to I-4 which will take you right into Orlando.
The drive from my house to WDW is approx 1200 miles. Bring lots of music with you, unless you like country music. I never could find a station I liked on the drive down. Also, a DVD player for your daughter would make the trip easier for her, unless you plan on using this time for bonding. Peggie

thanks for the directions. I was planning on going parkway to tappan zee then to I-95. Just wanted to make sure it was easy to do.

It does get alittle tricky in some spots. Maybe it's just me! I know at some point the road splits and turns into 295. I always get nervous around DC. I would suggest just printing out directions from yahoo maps or map quest. Your DS can just read them to you around those tricky areas. We have been driving down every year for the past 8 years and I still get confused and always in the same areas!LOL
We will be doing the drive tomorrow night!!!

I-95 is not hard, but there are quite a few tolls especially in NJ.

In NJ I95 is the Turnpike in the Northern part of the New Jersey. 95 leaves the turnpike and goes over towards Trenton and then into Pennsylvania. You do not want to do this. Just stay on the turnpike until you cross the river into Delaware and you will be back on 95. interstate 295 runs right along 95 through NJ, and is free, but you need to get off the turnpike to get to it. 95 goes through Baltimore and DC, but it is better to go around the cities. Follow the signs which point the way to by pass the cities and you should be fine.

If you stay on the TPKE only two toll plazas... (don't even have to stop if you have ez-pass). One when you get on and one when you get off. $ wise it is a bit. Delaware on the other hand has something like three toll plazas in the 10-15 mile stretch of 95 through that state.

Have a great time & a safe drive.

I would do a trip tik (if you have AAA you can print one out from home) or Map quest too.

I agree with the others that it gets tricky in DC area. When you head to Maryland you can avoid 95 for some parts & take the DC/Baltimore parkway and avoid some trucks for part of the drive & then it hooks back up in DC-take the loop that goes east vs west when you get there. It is like 295 or 195 (I forget exactly).

Oh & the mid-southern part of Jersey, 95 goes into Philly but you can avoid that too by taking the Turnpike the whole way. There will be signs for that.

Oh & go to walmart & buy a Rand Mcnally map. We use them all the time even though we print trip tic's.

I believe you are referring to I295, the BW Parkway. It is more pleasant than I95!
