We're staying off-site near the Crossreads intersection. We will be driving in to the Whispering Canyon Cafe and wonder if there are special signs to watch for, lanes to move into, etc. We know it isn't far, but is it tricky to find by car?

Shouldn't be too hard. Assuming you're coming in through the big Magic Kingdom entrance, get to one of the farthest two right lanes (don't go in the farthest right bus lane, though); once through the turnstile, get over to the far right lane and then follow the signs. Essentially, you'll take that far right lane about half a mile to the first intersection with traffic lights and turn right. Once you turn, you're just a couple of hundred yards from Wilderness Lodge arch, gateway to the lodge itself! :)

We did this on our Dec. trip. We have a timeshare near Crossroads and were going there for supper.

Follow signs to MK. Get into the line farthest to the right at the toll boths to go into MK. Tell them you are going to Wilderness Lodge. Just like poster above said they will instruct you to stay to the right. Follow the signs to the Lodge.

When you get to the lodge you need to check in at the gate. They will let you know that you where you can self park or you can pull of for valet. Very easy to do. Does not take a long time.

From the Crossroads area jump onto I-4 West (toward Tampa) and take the very first exit, which is to Epcot Center Drive.

Stay to the left on Epcot Center Drive until you pass the actual exit for Epcot. Then move to the right and you will be able to exit directly onto World Drive just outside of the MK Toll Plaza.

Stay to the far right and turn right at the first traffic light into WL.

There is a map of Disney property. Print it and keep it in your car!
You can go as the previous posters said but that's the long way through lots of lights and traffic and makes you cross through pretty much all of Disney property.

I go all the time and I use the backroads...MUCH faster and less circling all around.

Just go north on Buena Vista Drive.

Then Vista Drive (connects by about 50 feet of Live Oak Lane).

Then that turns into Vista Blvd. but you are still staying on the same road.

You will pass the Ft. Wilderness campground (not lodge) on your right.

At the next stop sign intersection turn right (you will bypass the toll plaza and won't have to worry about crossing over traffic there).

Follow the signs to Wilderness Lodge just about 2 blocks up (It will be a right turn at the light).

I use these backroads all the time...it's super easy.
I was there 5 times this past year (over 40 times total and 3 times in just the last 2 months and I always have my car and drive everywhere.)
Just keep the map with you in the car no matter which direction you take.

Oh, and at the security entrance at any Disney resort, you will have to show photo ID.
(We just ate at Artist Point last week....portobello soup..YUM. They don't have the side dish of french fries fried in truffle oil anymore, but if you ask them, they will make it for you ($6). It goes awesome with the soup.) All of their homemade pastas are great too...as well as the salmon. The buffalo is ok depending on what cut you get.
We really enjoy this restaurant though and the resort. So, good choice.

Oops sorry..thought you said Artist Point ....Whispering Canyon is still super fun too and tasty BBQ and bottomless milkshakes (and lincoln logs to play with while you wait).

Same resort..different restaurant....same directions.
Your restaurant it on the left of the lobby as soon as you walk in the front door.
