my hubby would like to do the nasca driving experience but i don't know anything about it, as my girls and i are booked on a day at dc, i would like to arrange for him to have a day somewhere, and when we went in 2000 we saw this track so any help would be most appreciative or phone numbers to enquire. many thanks.

Walt Disney World Speedway offer three different levels of experiences:

The Ride-Along Program: visitors ride stotgun with a professional driver for three laps around the one mile tri-oval track. Costs are approx $100.

Rookie Experince: visitors who like to be in the driver's seat can sign up for the 3 hour experience. After a short introduction the driver's enter their cars and follow a lead car for eight laps. This program costs approx $350.

Experience of a Lifetime: Three sessions of ten lapseach for 5 hours of NASCAR excitement. Cost approx $1,200.

For more information or to make reservations, call the Richard Petty Driving Experience on 800 237-3889.

Theres also Drivetech who operate out of the USA International speedway which is somewhere about half way to Tampa on I4. The prices are much cheaper than Disney and they say you get more laps driving. Heres the web site
http://www.drivetech.com/
If you decide on the disney one you can get discount coupons from the Orlando Vistor centre on International Drive (Magicard I think) and you get 10% off.

Never done either of these places but was thinking about it when I was there in April, would be interested to know what its like.

Happy driving!

Hi

I did have the pleasure of doing the "Ride Along experience" (3 laps)

And if this is anything to go by he will love it. If he is a speed freak and enjoys any type of motorsport, you will be in his good books for a very long time :D

For spped and thrills it knocks spots of any other ride in Orlando I have tried.
(please no backlash comments from you Disney addicts..

The 3 laps are over in a matter of seconds so If you can afford the longer courses go for it.

The track mentioned above, I have not tried. It may be cheaper but all depends on if you are going that way. I would like to try it myself.

Anyway must go.. all those memories are coming back. I think I may have to do it again this year when I go back.

Do you think you could persuade my loving wife to pay for me on our next trip :bounce: LOL...

Hi poohstix, thank you for sharing your experience, can you please tell me how do I go about booking this? should I leave till we get there or like most things do we need to pre-book? I will have to see what pennies we have as it seems quite expenseve.
thanks again regards lynne

Hi again skinnylinny

I just turned up and away I went. I was in the car within about 10 mins. You have to sign a disclaimer (Just in case you try to sue them, after all it is a motor sport) and away you go. This is just for the 3 lap experience though.

If you want to make sure your hubby goes on it i would pre-book even for the 3 lap exp. If you want to go for any of the other courses I WOULD book as they ony have a certain amount of spaces per day.

A nother tip i would suggest is to email them and ask if the track is closed on any days while you are there. Afterall it is still a track used by pro's for training.

If you have any other questions just ask and I will try to help.

Below are a few links with more info.
