We made it to Florida just fine. What we did do and what we plan to do when we drive down later this week is to start looking to stop when we are at 1/2 a tank. I'd rather make a few extra stops then push it and then find that a station is indeed out.Sounds like a bargain to me. We're equivalent to about $14 / Gallon over here

I'm in GA right now and gas prices have gone from $3.45 to $4.99 per gallon. This could put a huge damper on driving the FL. Is this the same elsewhere or is this just an anomoly for this area? I haven't seen on the news that prices were this high anywhere else.
What are the prices in your neighborhood?
Glad I'm not in Georgia .... paid $3.62 here in TN yesterday.

We live in the Florida panhandle and the price this morning was at $3.64. Just drove by the same station this afternoon and the price is now at $3.99.![]()
All of the gas stations out here had crazy lines this afternoon and many had run out of gas. A lot of panic buying going on.
Here is an interesting piece from the Florida Attorney General's website about How Gasoline Prices are Generally Calculated.
As others have mentioned, checking http://www.gasbuddy.com is also a good resource when planning your trip.
