Driving Down

It's $3.73 to $3.77 here in central Brevard county. Yesterday I actually needed gas and had to stop. No panic going on at the 7-11 I stopped at. Down the street at the Murphy Oil in front of the Wal-Mart grocery store there was a mob scene. Funny thing though it was more expensive than the 7-11s.

We faced the same thing when we drove down right after Katrina including a rest area in southern IL where the woman at the desk told us to turn around that there was no gas to be found south of there. We made it to Florida just fine. What we did do and what we plan to do when we drive down later this week is to start looking to stop when we are at 1/2 a tank. I'd rather make a few extra stops then push it and then find that a station is indeed out.

Sounds like a bargain to me. We're equivalent to about $14 / Gallon over here

We went from $3.36 to $3.65 just overnight. And we are in MD!! I know it's nothing compared to some of what your paying. And believe me I feel for you!

Here In South Georgia Went From 3.60 To 4.79 Overnight And All Of Our Smaller Gas Stations Are Out Of Gas! Even Murphy Oil At Our Local Walmart Only Had Premium Left! Crazy Lines All Over Town!!

Yikes! Yesterday it was around $3.65 here. Today when I filled up my car it was $3.85.

If you are planning on driving, go to the gasbuddy website and go to the gas temperature map. This will give you an idea of what the prices are. This can help you plan your stops so you fill up in the cheaper areas, and right now, cheaper is a relative term!!

Living in New York Gas is always more so yesterday when all this started i ran ans got gas at walmart and when i got there at 7:30 in the moring it was 3.65 i filled up went in to walmart come out half hour later and it was up to 3.99 cant believe this is happening again we were just getting down to were it was bareable !!!!!!!!

I'm in GA right now and gas prices have gone from $3.45 to $4.99 per gallon. This could put a huge damper on driving the FL. Is this the same elsewhere or is this just an anomoly for this area? I haven't seen on the news that prices were this high anywhere else.

What are the prices in your neighborhood?

I filled up near Calhoun GA for $3.79 earlier today.

Prices in Knoxville, TN were $4.99.

I think it's "spot" panic. In other words "Did everyone in town give into the rumor that 'gas is going to run' out" (Remember the IDIOTIC move the GA Govenor did after Katrina to "create a gas crisis"? We are well trained to panic in GA.)

Upstate NY--We've been as low as $3.79 in the past week. That's the lowest we have seen in forever. We usually hover right around the $4.00 mark.

We live in the Florida panhandle and the price this morning was at $3.64. Just drove by the same station this afternoon and the price is now at $3.99. :sad2:

All of the gas stations out here had crazy lines this afternoon and many had run out of gas. A lot of panic buying going on.

Where are you? In FWB it was crazy also. 3.95 if they had it.

Here is an interesting piece from the Florida Attorney General's website about How Gasoline Prices are Generally Calculated.

As others have mentioned, checking http://www.gasbuddy.com is also a good resource when planning your trip.

Though the gas prices wouldn't cancel our vacation. I really appreciate the link for gas prices. Currently in Evansville, Indiana most gas station are around $4.30 which is extremely confusing to me. It's just all way over my head I guess.

I can tell you that while I'm comuting to work, if it stays above $4.00 when I need to fill up, I will be car pooling. I haven't done this yet since it will mean modifying my work hours just slightly.
