Driving down to Mickey's for Christmas!

Speaking with DH last night about when we are going (he said that he gave his boss the days we are going so I can't even change them again) I asked when we are going to tell our DS about the change? Well DH said that since we go to his parents house for dinner we can do a surprise to him! So my brain got to thinking when I should have been sleeping! so this is my plan to tell Damien:

Mickey is going to send a "package" in the mail to grandma's house and after eating and cake and gifts grandma is going to say that she forgot a present came in the mail for him- it will be big enough for us to fit in the mailbox, and in there will be some stuff from Mickey- new PJ's for the car ride, coloring book, crayons, DS game and so on with a note that says 'I just couldn't wait until Christmas to see you, please come now! See you real soon from Mickey'. My son's not all that great with surprises though so I am not going to make it too big! I will have our luggage in the garage at my mother in laws so he won't see it before then! And this way we eat before we get on the road and I don't have to clean up the house before leaving- because we always go to my in laws when my husband gets home on birthdays. So we should be on the road by 8pm on the 1st of December- I want to get to Penn. before we stop for resting because on Friday mornings the city and island roads are terrible!

So what does everyone think? Should I do something else? Maybe we should have my in laws pick him up from school that day so he doesn't see anything and I can decorate the car and pack it while DH takes a shower, then go to meet Damien at my in laws for eating and cake and take him out to the car instead of the mailbox? I am not sure! Oh i can't wait though we are bookin ADR's soon- I have to change that ticker- it's wrong now:laughing:!

I love your idea for the surprise! He is going to love it!

I love the David Beckham picture!:rotfl: What a handsome young man!

Great job on the theme night...I think green ice cream fits very nicely!

Thank you! I think I am going to go with the one with the car and having my in laws pick him up from school! I think that it will be a double surprise because grandma and Auntie Khine never pick him up from school! Maybe they can make a silly excuse for it!

:lmao:That little guy is honestly making me pay for EVERYTHING that I have done in my life! He has me :rotfl2: all the time with the things that he says and does and everything!

thank you! We are more of an ice cream family so I am trying to do those, they don't really eat cake and cupcakes and such (maybe that's how they stay so tiny?). For the next movie night (we are doing 2 this weekend- or trying to) we are doing 3 Caballeros, I know a little late from may 5th but they will never know otherwise! I plan on making my flan that I make often they love that! And we are going to try for Up on Sunday, but I am not sure of a dessert- I thought maybe girl scout cookies? I have never seen Up so I am really taking it from everyone else's! But thank you!

Love the idea for the surprise! My surprise for the kids is a bit similar;)

Great Princess and the Frog night, that gumbo looks yummy, I'm going to have to make that again soon! Looking forward to your double theme nights, for Up we of course did cupcakes but you could do ice cream. Won't give the movie away since you haven't seen it but there is ice cream involved at the end!

Since most of my friends here have been to WW before I had a few questions before we run out the door for practice----
1- I found this website in my allears email http://wdwent.com/ I wanted to know is this accurate on show times and such? I thought that those didn't come out until after the park hours do. And if they are, are they the same during off peak times?

2- If we are entering Epcot from the Yacht club where are we entering into? I am thinking of doing the pirate cruise on that morning from the Yacht club so my son sees the world showcase before we get there and can talk about it! So I was just curious!

Thank you! I will come back to comment and post on your TR! Have a great evening!

Thank you! I hope that he really is surprised!

You were right, Paula Dean's recipe on Foodnetwork.com was so good! And it wasn't that spicy- I did add a little hot sauce to it though for our taste buds! And I froze the little that I had left for another time- I will let you know how that freezes! Now can I just use color ice pops (like scribbles) for Up you think?

Absolutely you can use ice pops, whatever is easiest for you guys! Other food that is featured in the movie is hot dogs, chocolate bars and grape soda:thumbsup2 Can't wait to see what you have planned!

It will be a great surprise!

As for where you enter Epcot from YC... it is a walk... and you enter through the international gateway. Not sure if that was your question though. You can take a boat or walk. :goodvibes

I really do not know anything about this website...sorry. Have you seen the park hours link that is going around the boards for December hours. It is by some travelagents and is supposed to be pretty close. It matches almost perfectly with Touring Plans...so I am crossing my fingers that WDW will match when hours are released or I am going to have to do some scrambling!

Ann is right you are entering/exiting from the International Gateway...between the UK and France areas. There is a boat that goes from the International Gateway to the Yacht Club, and then the Boardwalk, then Swan/Dolphin and onto DHS. I found that walking was faster...it is about a brisk 5 minute walk from the Gateway to the Yacht Club.

thank you! That movie was really great! I will post pictures later.... although it's just the food! And I didn't get any pictures on the other one but will write about it.

It will be a great surprise!

Yes thank you! I think that I am going to do that after the pirate ship then!

Yes I did see that tonight! I have spent all day catching up everyone's PTR's ad TR's so I will have to come on in the morning and catch up on my own PTR! But thank you for the information on where they let off!

Like you I have gotten behind on my reading! :rotfl2:

Love the theme nights. Looks like you all have so much fun! I'm a cupcake girl myself so I have to say I LOVE the cupcake. I have not mastered making big flowers like that yet but I have made some awesome pirate cupcakes on National Pirate day.... which we celebrate in style! :lmao:

:lmao:that darn life keeps getting me behind:rotfl2:!

Thank you! I just have not come up with the ideas on my own- I am "borrowing" them from a lot of people on here- I love them though and my son likes them too! In fact we had 2 this last weekend and my DH asked "you didn't wait for me?" :lmao:I would have never thought he'd ever say that to me!

This last weekend we had 2 movie nights- I don't have too many pictures because we stopped during them to do other things!

Three Caballeros (Friday night)-
So this night we enjoyed this movie while DH was working late! We walked down to the spanish deli and picked out quit a few things we wanted to eat to take home- WAY more than we could even eat, but it was all very good! This is a picture of my son with his first plate!
Picture115.jpg

That little guy ate 3 plates!!!! After his binging of food we made maracas from empty toilet paper rolls, dry rice and glue! We colored them with crayons and danced to some spanish music afterwards- We watched a video on youtube on how to salsa so we tried that, very fun:banana:! For dessert we ate some flan that we had made earlier that day! All in all it was a great night, the movie was a little boring to Damien, but all in all he had fun!

Up (Saturday night)-
I was making up for missing so many other movie nights by doing 2 this week. I told my son that I am really going to try to get one in a week from now on (but the days will not always be the same)!
So I have never seen this movie! I thought that this was such a cute little movie, sad, but cute! For dinner we had hot dogs, baked beans and cantaloupe balloons with grape soda! For dessert we each had a chocolate bar and an ice pop!
Picture116.jpg

I didn't have a craft for this day because I really didn't know what to do as a craft, but after watching the movie I had Damien make his own "adventure book" for Sunday. We had so much going on that he had a good 4-5 pages that day and was very happy with his progress! I didn't take a picture of it, but we worked on the gardens together in the morning, he had a soccer game, we had a play date/picnic at the park with friends, picked up my father in law from the airport and stopped at the Hong Kong supermarket in the city for some groceries before bringing grandpa back home to his house and then home to ours! It was really great for him to work on the book while driving from place to place! And some of his pictures are pretty funny!

This Saturday we are going to have an Alice in Wonderland movie night since I just got that from netflix so I will have lots of pictures for that since I just saw someone else make a teacup I want to try and I have a few crafts So very excited!

So if that website that's going around is true on the park hours I have come up with my plan on when to tour what park! So this is it (unless Disney changes the park hours and stuff)

Arrival day- we are just going to eat at Whispering Canyon and get to the sing-a-long with Chip and Dale then head to the beach for the electrical parade (honestly I am not sure if this parade is going to happen or not because I don't understand how to know when that is going to happen).

Day 1- We are going to head to DHS for the day at rope drop! Starring Rolls for a quick breakfast. We are going to try to get into Fantasmic, but I don't want the dining package because I hear the seats are really bad? But what's great is that we can go on a few rides after the show because they have magic hours at night. For lunch my son wants 50's prime time and for dinner we will grab a QS while waiting for Fantasmic. I want to get back to the hotel about 10pm so that we have an early start the next day.

Day 2- AK day for my little one! They have early hours that we are going to try to get to for RD- hoping it's not going to be busy because the MK is the high level on for this day! Breakfast we are going to get some fruit at Harambe or I am told that at the entrance there is a pastry/coffee truck we will get something while waiting? We are going to stay the day there with lunch at Yak and yeti's and/or Flame tree BBQ and then leave for Jiko's dinner reservation. If we are tired (which I think that we will be, so it's either a quick trip to boardwalk or the hotel to sleep) But I do again want to be in bed by 10 pm.

Day 3- Epcot FW day! I am so excited about the epcot days! Breakfast we will probably get something from the hotel lobby to eat quick. We are going to eat lunch at Sunshine Seasons and dinner I think that we will eat at Coral Reef for Damien- he wants to be a marine biologist! Illuminations is going to be this night so I would like to see that- if we get done with everything and have time we can knock out a country while waiting!

Day4- Breakfast will be again a pastry or something at our hotel. We are going to put Damien on the boat from the Yacht club for the pirate cruise around the world showcase. While he is on that DH and I are going to just walk around and tour kidless! After he gets off we are going to walk over to the WS and after talking to DH we are just going to eat ourselves around the world with QS and snack credits. Illuminations is this night also so if we don't get into it the night before it's not a big deal we will have another chance today- or if we just want to see it again!

Day 5- MK- we kept this for the last day so that we get the early EMH for RD! For breakfast we will grab something from Main street bakery and tour for a while! I am being told that this is not going to be a too busy day since it's after the MVMCP. But for lunch we are going to get to cosmic rays or pecos Bill's I hear that both are good and it will just depend on where we are at that time! For dinner I would like liberty Tree or tony's I am still not sure which one- I am hearing that liberty tree has a nice view when you step outside during one of the shows. We are going to stay to wishes!

Day 6- We are going to be leaving I know that much. As far as what we are doing I do not know. DH is still very much wanting to go to NASA. My son is on the line if he wants to go to NASA or not and for me I told DH that they have some things at Epcot that were designed by NASA engineers so they are just about the same. And we are going to visit Texas in the next few years so I know that Houston NASA is there and it's very kid friendly with adult stimulation as well. So we have 2 different plans for this day- I would like to just go to a character breakfast (either ohana or 1900 fare) and then to DTD (there are a few stores that we would like to get into) and then make our way to somewhere to eat like Earl's before heading to Georgia to spend the night with friends and make our way to NC and so on after this but no NASA. DH plan- get up early and get in a breakfast buffet (like Ohana or 1900) then he wants to head right to NASA, spend the day there and go back to another hotel for the night and food. Wake up spend the day at NASA and go to the lunch with an astronaut then after they close head to Georgia for the night and leave Georgia around 1pm or so then head like me to NC and so on.

If we don't go to NASA I would like to go to MVMCP on my animal kingdom day- so if this happens we are going to switch AK day with Epcot WS day so that we still have early EMH with AK, which would kinda be good because then we will separate the Epcot days! The only thing that will really change is that we would leave AK around 3:30 pm and not eat at Jiko's we would go back for showers and a nap and such. But I do want to eat at Jiko's and is it possible to tour AK by 3:30? And are any of the restaurants open on the nights of MVMCP? But we would get to celebrate the party with Mickey! I don't know.... something will work out! I am just so excited that I can start looking at what I want to do at what time and so on! And setting up a spreadsheet and everything! So any thoughts of anything?

Yay for 2 theme nights! Love the adventure book idea. Can't wait to hear about your Alice night!

I think your plans sound great. I know what your going through with your DH and wanting to go to NASA. My DH keeps trying to get me to agree to it but so far we haven't had the time, plus I think it's not something my kids would be terribly interested in. But DH really wants to go to Kennedy Space Center so I'm sure one of these times I'll have to schedule it in!

I still don't know how to resize, so I am sorry- if anyone else knows how to I would appreciate it!

So tonight we watched the cartoon Alice in Wonderland! It was my favorite of all the movie nights so far because I could do more with this since I have watched it before and had my favorite parts! So the only real decorations I did was a balloon- if you look at the word birthday you can kinda see that I wrote "un"!
movienights007.jpg

We started by playing flamingo golf in the yard.... it's a lot harder than it looks!
movienights006.jpg

For dinner we ate a lot of things I thought you might see at a tea party.... Like quiche
movienights008.jpg

These are the card men that I found on someone else's movie night and "borrowed" with my fancy hanging glasses for the "tea"
movienights009.jpg

We also had salad, ham and crackers with american and provolone, hard boiled eggs (I tried to shape these into the heart, but it didn't turn out so good- I think that they have to be wrapped tighter and left for a longer time) and jelly sandwiches!
movienights010.jpg

You can sorta-kinda see the heart shape.....
movienights011.jpg

Damien really enjoyed tonight you could tell! He made a mad hatter hat!
movienights012.jpg

This is the dessert
movienights013.jpg

The strawberry un-birthday cake- we didn't have any candles so I had to use the picks I use for my son's lunches as the "candles"!
movienights015.jpg

These are some "teacups" that I saw on someone elses PTR (the same one as the cards- thank you by the way:goodvibes). We filled ours with cherry garcia ice cream! And used sliced bananas as the peti-cakes you usually see with tea!
movienights014.jpg

This was a really fun one! Next week we are supposed to do Planet 51 because my son is having his friend spend the night! I have to look around on what to do for that one... so next Friday I should have another movie night! I hope that anyone can get some ideas from me because I am getting them from others!
