If this isn't the right topic for this forum, I apologize.

I'm going to buy a portable dvd player for our trip this year and was wondering if the rear-seat travel kits are pretty standard and easy to install (ya know, the ones that hang on the back of the front seat). I'm looking at the Phillips PET1002 but it doesn't come with a travel kit/case. Anyone have experience with these?

While I don't have an answer to your question, I was researching the same thing before our June trip and found this for around $30:

It's a harness to basically use your laptop as a portable DVD player / portable game system. We used it and it worked great for our 12 hour trip each way.

A few things to note...first, of course, you must have a laptop. Next...you may need an inverter or car adapter for your laptop since the laptop battery probably won't last more than 3 or 4 hours max. And, finally....smaller kids will probably need assistance changing and starting movies.

We have a Toyota Camry and it worked great.

Just wanted to pass on the info....

Maybe this is the same thing?? but why not get a regular portable dvd player?I know my Audiovox from Bjs came with cigarette adapter/battery/ac adapter, headphones, and regular cables to hook it up to a regular tv. 7' screen for $129. and they sell those things that go on the backs of seats that you can put it into to hold it.
