We'll be switching hotels from HOJO to DLH part way through our trip and we'll be returning our rental car to Alamo in DTD that same day. DH and I always get lost when we're driving around in new places, and even though this is our 4th trip to DLR this is our first time renting a vehicle. So, we know how to get from DLH to Alamo by walking, but when we look at the map we can't see an easy way to drive from the bell desk at DLH to the parking lot behind the movie theater (which I think is where we're supposed to drop the car, but I'm not sure.) I'm trying to figure out if it would be easier to just drive directly to the lot where we return the car and just walk all of our luggage to the DLH, or if we should drive to the DLH, drop off our luggage and have DH return the car while I check us in. Oh, and we're planning to do all of this at 6am with two kids, 2 booster seats and 3 maybe 4 suit cases! Any advice?

We are dropping a rental car off at Alamo in DTD as well. Anyone know if its easy to navigate?

I've used the Alamo and its quite easy to get to (although I'm not sure from DLH). We were staying at GCH and the entrance was opposite the hotel main entrance.

My family have often done what your hoping to accomplish - drop off the wife and kids while I take the rental back. The biggest difference is we've never done it at 6am!!

Two things to keep in mind - I assume you've spoken to the hotel to confirm you can get in early? Check in is usually in the afternoon.

The second thing is to check that Alamo is open at 6am. I know some of the car rental companies have odd hours of opening and closing times. If it opens later, I would check with the hotel if you could park the car for a couple of hours until they open.

Last pieces of advice - I would definitely NOT drop the car off first and walk over to DLH with luggage and kids in tow - could be in for a tough walk (although not overly far, the property is big). The other thing I do is when I fill up for gas prior to dropping off the car, we pick up water and other beverages for the park. It's usually 50-60% cheaper to take these in as opposed to purchase in the park (we go through a lot of water so it saves quite a bit of $$$)

Good luck
