I have two questions…

My DGF and I are driving to WDW in 9/07 from NJ… and we will try and do a fast trip down (16-17 hrs) what would be a better stop? Stopping in Florence, SC, or Savanna, GA. I feel if we go the extra 2-3 hours to Savanna it is then only a 4-5 hour trip to WDW  . I want to be refreshed and in Disney by 3pm. any tips please, and does sound like agood plan:confused:

My next question is coming back to NJ. We would like to do a little touring maybe make a 3-day drive back. What would everyone recommend? Here are a few places of interest. Savanna, GA (we won’t see on the drive down), Kennedy Space Center, the Outer Banks (I love fishing and never been there), Williamsburg, VA, or any other suggestions, please.

Thanks,
-phil

We drove down in '05. We spent one day in Savannah and we loved it. We are driving down in Aug. this year and are planning on stopping there again. We have also stayed in Williamsburg on a seperate trip and that was nice also. I probably wouldn't do Kennedy Space center, because it's going in the other direction, making the trip home longer. Have a great trip.

We always do a stop at south of the border. Even if its just for lunch and a quick round of mini golf to unwind before driving again. Yes, I know it's tacky, but we loooove it. We have also stopped at petersburg, Williamsburg, Virginia Beach, Myrtle Beach, Savannah, and St. Augustine on past disney driving trips and we really enjoyed these places too.

I have a tip for you.......Maybe you will like it probably not, but here it goes.

Move your trip to June
Do the car ride to New Hampshire
And fly Southwest, 3 hours from Manchester $40 each way on DING!!!!

My tip is to take the auto train down and drive back... than way you are relaxed when you get there and can take your time coming back.

My brother lives in Kill Devil Hills on the Outer Banks and we drove to Disney after his Wedding. It will add quite a bit of time to your ride getting out there and then back in to 195. We live in NJ also and have driven down to Disney twice. You are wise to take more time driving home. We drove straight through on the way down(18 hrs) and did fine because we were so excited. But on the way back, we were tired, sad and it was pouring , so the drive was difficult. If we drive again , we will plan on a stop. The Outer Banks is a great place to visit though, especially if you are a beach person. We grew up in Ocean City and the Outer Banks reminds us of what the Jersey Shore USED to be like.
