Driving at night

My dad has driven in Florida before but just isn't confident about driving around in the dark! Therefore the only chance we would really have to see night time parades/fireworks etc, would be to use taxis to and from our villa on the days we want to stay at the parks late.

Has anyone else done this or have any advice on driving back to Kissimmee at night?

Thank you :)

Take a sat nav with you and this will help him returning to villa at night.

The roads are very well illuminated - as are the signs - and I really dont think he would have a problem, especially if there is someone sat up front with him.
As already mentioned sat nav would also be an advantage.
In my opinion the whole place looks totally different at night, and with everywhere lit up it certainly is a sight worth seeing. It would be shame to miss it :goodvibes

I would say practice - do the trip from the park to villa a couple of times during the day to get used to it, and he will be more confident in the dark. The major roads - particularly those are WDW and Kissimmee - are so well lit at night that you it's never completely dark.

Whereabouts in Kissimmee are you going to be? If it's close to the 192 that's very bright at nighttime :) :cool1:

We're close to the 192. It's been a few years since we were there but I'm sure once he starts driving around again he'll be ok.

Thanks everyone :)

As a previous posted has said, have someone up front with him that knows the route and can call the exits and or lanes he needs to be in and it will be much easier for him.

Would definitely suggest driving as the roads are all well lit.

However, if he still doesn't want to drive, you could catch Lynx Bus #56 which runs along the 192 right to the Transportation and Ticketing Centre every 30 mins. He could drive up to the 192 if not within walking distance and park somewhere near to a bus stop.

However, the last bus back to Kissimmee does leave at around 10:50pm so you would have to be pretty quick at exiting the park and getting to the TTC.
