We are set to arrive in Disney the evening of the 14th of august. I am thinking we will stay off property on the 14th, then get up and head over to the poly to start our package on the 15th. Can anyone recommend a couple cheap, family friendly hotels outside of Disney for a family of 5 (we have three girls ages 9,8 & 7).

Also, we will check out on the 24th, which is a saturday. We need to be back in Connecticut by Monday at some point. We would like to stop Saturday afternoon/evening somewhere midway up possibly...thoughts? This will be our first time driving!!!

TIA for any tips :-)

We generally stay at Marriott properties. There is a "Marriott Village", which includes a Courtyard, Fairfield Inn and Springhill Suites right off I-4 at 535.

But with 5 of you you may need something larger. We've found Residence Inn's to be very nice.

On the drive home, I'd suggest something in the Richmond VA area. Its kind of a long drive to there from WDW but it makes getting through DC/NCY easier.
