Driving across the border

My wife and 2 year old are driving across the border in 2 weeks to go to Cedar Point. I haven't gone to the US since before Covid.

Wondering what is required to go and come back. Any help would be appreciated.

You don't need to do anything but fill our the ArriveCan app to come home.

You and your wife need to be vaccinated and be able to provide proof if asked.

No she will drive the antique cars when we get to Cedar Point. Lol. I'm excited to go as it's my favorite park to visit. I'm used to making the 5 hour drive 3-4 times a summer.

Was curious if you had any accommodations recommendations? My family and I are considering going this summer. Thanks!

We have only been to Cedar Point once in 2019 (many times in 80s-90s). We have stayed in Sandusky several times. If you want to stay for a few days and just want to do one day at Cedar Point consider Kalahari. We typically only go if it coincides with a 'Don White' discount weekend/weekday. The four of us stay in a King Suite. It has a kitchen for $210 a night plus tax/fees. We prefer the water park areas at Kalahari to Cedar Point's. Not a fan of the Great Wolf Lodge there unless you have small kids. We visited family at Castaway Bay about 5 years ago and it was showing its age. Its indoor water park looked fine. I can't help you with the non-water park hotels.

If you can swing it and if there is availability Hotel Breakers at Cedar Point is the best option. The convience of it makes it worth the money. Its where my family normally stay. This time it's all booked.

We have never stayed at any of the places with indoor waterparks. We are in the park usually 3-4 days.

I know this is a Disney centric site but it kind of excites me to see some planning on going to parks other then Disney or Universal.

We drive down to Florida a few weeks ago… was the easiest crossing we had in a while.. on the way into the US “where ya from? where ya going? Anything to declare?.. have a safe trip” … on the way home “where did you go?.. how much did you spend? Any alcohol or tobacco?”.. had the vaccine receipts ready as well as the arrive can app.. no asked or seemed to care about either

Since you put your passport and arrival port of entry and time into ArriveCan, I'm pretty sure they have all that on the screen as soon as the scan your passport. We didn't get asked in March either, I assumed that the CBSA agent already knew.

That made me realize I will need to download ArriveCAN for when we go to NY to renew my daughters' Nexus, even if it's just a few hours south the border!

I briefly looked at Cedar Point before but it's a little too far for us to be worth it for a long weekend. Any other interesting things to do close by? It would be for next summer and we live in Montreal. Thanks!

There is lots to in the area to make it a week's worth trip. Besides the park, Cleveland is about 45 minutes away and there is lots to do there. Put-in bay is worth taking the ferry to. It's a small island in the middle of lake Erie. There lots to do there.
