Drive to other resorts or take buses?

We are planning our first trip to Disney for Christmas week. We are staying at the Dolphin but will have our car since we are driving from CT...Yikes! We have meals planned at other resorts. Would we be better off driving to the other resorts or should we stick to the wdw transportation? We will do wdw transportation to parks, of course. Thanks for any help I can get!

Having done both bus's and driving resort to resort, drive yourself. Doing the bus thing can take a while. 1 1/2 hour AKL to BW via bus for example.

Swan/Dolphin are within 5 minute walking distance of Boardwalk and Yacht/Beach Club, thus you should walk to those. Otherwise driving to another resort takes about 10 to 15 minutes at most. Taking a bus to another resort (which requires switching busses on the way) usually takes an hour or more.
