Drive to Disney

We've driven about 7 times. We used to drive from the King of Prussia area to WDW.

We would get on the blueroute to I95 (where there was always construction in Chester PA of some kind), and then continue on I95.

The trips would be about 17-20 hours straight through, or broken up.

We just recently returned from a drive orignating in S. Jersey. Gas was less than $3 on the way down, but it was higher on the return.

We needed three tanks at prices of $66, $58 and one was in the high $40's.

We also drove from the Philly area this past March. We rented an SUV (Chevy Trailblazer) from AVIS for about 550 inluding unlimited mileage. I think it took 3 stops for gas and it was around 150 each way. If you are going to be stopping instead of driving through, we always stay at the Holiday Inn Express in Jacksonvilee (exit 344 of I95) which has great rates, breakfast bar, and the best, only about 2 hours from Disney!! We do a 12 hour run the first day and get a good night sleep. The next day, it is a short trip and we can enjoy the entire day.

The kids wanted to stop at South of the Border last time. We ended up spending 2 hours there. HUGE tourist trap but the kids loved it and it made it that much easier the rest of the way.

It's also the only place in the universe where Dark Chocolate Brown paint is is flourescent. Something isn't right about that. pirate:

From Center City it takes us anywhere from 16 - 22 hours, mostly depending upon how screwed up DC and Virginia are. They're always screwed up, but the level of screwed-uppedness varies. If they only built the Autotrain's northern terminal ABOVE Washington they'd get lots more business from us.

Sounds like a great rate on the SUV rental. Who did you use?
