Would you suggest driving 840 miles straight or break it up into two days?

Thinking I could do a stop over in Atlanta.
Just would like some suggestions on what you may do.
Thanks
Connie

If you have children, a stop over is probably best. I have a good friend who drove straight through from NJ, 2 adults and 3 kids in a van, and said next time they would stop for a night, wish they had made hotel reservations for a night because they couldn't find a nice place to stay when they wanted to stop. They said it was just to much for the kids. Many people stop around Savanna, Georgia, it's a nice area off I-95. There is some great information about hotels, road work, etc. on I-95 if interested: http://www.usastar.com/i95/motels/accom-ga.htm Good Luck!

We're driving NJ to WDW which is I think 1100 miles and we're stopping over, esp since we have little ones to deal with. I know there are people that drive all the way through but I think it can become dangerous when people are on the road for that amount of time. It's always best to be alert and well rested while you are driving, IMHO.

I'd wait til I was 20 or 30 miles south of Atlanta to stop. AM traffic around Atlanta can be really intense. Definitely do the stop over. You want to start a Disney vacation fresh and relaxed, not tired and worn out. I did a 650 mile drive straight through once on a Disney trip and regretted doing it. The next 2 times I drove I did a stopover; it worked out much better.

Thanks for your suggestions.

Now all I have to do is win a bid on Priceline!

We drove straight thru one time 18 hours S Jersey to Tampa, and I have to say that the last 4 or 5 hours of the trip where exhausting! We really pushed ourselves to get to our destination, we now stop after 12 or 13 hours and get a good night rest, then finish the trip the next day! Stopping over is the safe way to go, you feel alot better when you arrive at your destination.
