when staying at a resort on WDW property. anyone ever still use their own vehicle to get to the parks?

does it cost to park?

Yes, lots do. There is no charge to park at your resort nor at any of the parks if you are staying on site.

Parking is free. I personally don't use my vehicle to get to the parks because I just don't want to drive. However, in many cases it would be more convenient. For example, I have been caught waiting for a bus in the rain on several occasions and it would have been nice to have my car. You can't really plan for that though, but if it looks like rain, I will be taking my car in the future.

In the past we've rented a van to get to our resort then found we never used it again. So we found that was a big waste of $$. Now we book a service and get picked up at the airport and brought to the resort. I find this a great alternative though it still costs...around $120 round trip. We've never used ME but I would assume we will be giving that a try shortly. As far as cost to park.....we haven't had to in so long I'm not sure how that works. Lastly, when we left the area for Sea World and universal the same car service picked us up at the resort...$50 round trip. In the resort area...only Disney Transportation...bus, boat, monorail.

We never drive to the parks and always use Disney transportation. We are never in hurry when on vacation, so if it takes a little longer getting around, we don't mind.

We drive everywhere except for MK. When going to MK we either bus or walk (if staying at BLT).

We will monorail to Epcot, again, when staying at BLT, but other than those two exceptions, we drive everywhere. Just prefer it to using the buses & having to deal with multiple stops.

Most "experts" agree with the pp. Drive to all parks except MK where you should take Disney transportation.:)

I agree that in general Disney transportation isnt that bad. just feel like at times (at night if we stay late) the kids would be alot easier to deal with putting them in the car then waiting on a bus then the stops then getting off etc.

thanks for the info. I like the idea of drive to every park except MK.

Also driving allows us to be able to get other areas easier/faster IE DTD, minature golf, waterparks etc

We drive everywhere but MK as well. We have only been once, going for our second trip soon. I wanted my DH to LIKE it and want to go back, and I knew he wouldn't enjoy always waiting for a bus! I enjoy having a car and not having to "allow 90 minutes for transportation" when going to an ADR. Just drive time...Enjoy your trip! :)

We drive ourself everywhere. We have never used the Disney buses.

If we drive there we already have our own car but if we fly there we rent a car.

I wouldn't go if I didn't have a car.

This is us- 15 trips since 1990 and have never been on a Disney bus.

As far as the MK goes our last trip we valeted - and paid-at CR and monorailed to the MK-worked for us

Also valeting at the BC and walking to Epcot is doable too

Done both - bus and driving car. A car is faster than a bus for everything but MK. But, as others will say, then you have to drive it and some folks like not having to drive. After my last trip I without a car, I swore I'd never go without one again.

We drive to Disney so we have a car at our disposal. However, we hardly ever use it. I drove over to Hollywood Studios on a Star Wars Weekend just because we were getting there very early to stand in line for the SWW Fastpasses. Other than that, we don't drive. I'd rather have Disney do the driving for me.

If you stay on property....parking is free. And, since your vehicle is there...i see no reason to use disney transport. Its simply easier to drive yourself.

We enjoy the convenience and time-saving of having our own car at WDW. As others have stated, we also use the bus to get to MK. I also like to explore different resorts and enjoy meals there, so a car saves us a lot of time and aggravation.
