Drive one way fly one way specials?

I remember they had this a while back where there was a real low price through a car rental compnay to rent a car up north and drop it off down in Florida, or vice versa. I'd love to fly one way and drive a rental car the other way plus have the rental car while we are in FL. We're actually going to Fort Myers but any location in FL would work for us. We're in Connecticut. Has anything like this come up lately?

I'm not aware of a specific package or arrangement that allows for this - i.e. you'd have to make your OWN flight arrangements, separate from the car rental - BUT many rental agencies offer one-way specials between Florida and the Northeast as a way to move their cars where they're needed, when they're needed. Generally, you might be able to get a deal FROM Connecticut TO Florida in the mid to late Spring; and FROM Florida TO the northeast in late Fall. Contact rental agencies for information. You may need to wait until VERY close to travel time.

Normally those one way deals are FROM FL in the late Spring and TO Florida in the fall. Car rental agencies need more cars in FL during the winter to accomodate "snowbirds" that spend weeks in FL during the winter months and rent cars.

These cars are really needed in South Florida but I think the deals may also apply to Orlando. The agencies want to move the cars from the NE. Even if the renters only get the car as far as Orlando the agency doesn't have to move them as far.
